Job description
GTRF's US Commodities business is responsible for providing both core trade and CSTF structured products / solutions to GTRF's commodities clients across both Global Banking & CMB (LC and MME sectors). The team works closely with Global Bankers and Relationship Management teams. The US Team is composed of 3 Business Development Sales Managers based in the US, working with CSTF's Transaction Management Unit “TMU” and CSTF's Commodity Finance Risk Management “CFRM” teams. Client base is a mix of soft commodities, global oil & gas companies, major international trading houses, and mining and metals companies. Transactions cover both domestic and global flows ensuring close connectivity within the HSBC International Network.
GTRF Commodities Business Developer
Reporting to Head of GTRF Commodities US, the role is comprised of managing existing client lines, liaison with Coverage bankers, ensuring smooth operation of day to day transactions, credit renewals and proposals, new client origination (development of own portfolio), market risk analysis and ad hoc reporting, and support for other GTRF Commodities Sales Managers where appropriate.
As a small focused team there is close interaction with both CFRM and TMU to manage overall counterparty risk and collateral management. In addition, interaction with Global Finance Risk Distribution and Investor Finance in terms of distribution of assets to optimise both credit capacity and RoRWAs.

Desired profile
Qualifications :
· Strong interest in global commodity markets, geopolitics, risk management and macro economics
· Good analytical skills and ability to demonstrate clear rationale based thinking
· Prior commercial, corporate banking relationship management and client exposure preferred
· Credit analysis or risk management experience preferred
· Ability to analyze relationship accounts and client management information
· Exposure to financing physical commodity transactions and global flows
· Understanding of prepayment and pre-export financing, borrowing base, warehousing, transactional and margin call finance structures as well as CSTF Product criteria and Governance.
· Developed credit assessment skills that manifest in well-structured well designed offerings to clients
· Demonstrated ability to generate term sheets that recognize appropriate deal and risk structure
· Understanding of core trade products e.g. letters of credit, guarantees, working capital cycles
· Familiarity with HSBC's Global Standards and FCC policies
Development Opportunities:
· Understanding of how CSTF manages risk and maximises HSBC's International Network
· Understanding of commodity traders' risk management and financing techniques
· Presentation at CAC or DPC, for appropriate deal and structuring review including examination of client and deal profitability / RoRWA calculations
· Exposure to legal documentation and collateral management
· Interaction with Clients, Relationship Managers, CFRM and TMU as well as other GTRF colleagues
· Use of core systems, Client Vision, DealPoint and CSTF procedures
· Management of FCC, KYC, 6 th Filter and Sanctions risks applicable to dealing with commodities clients and markets.
