The Commodities and Structured Trade Finance (CSTF) Senior Product Manager role is based within Commodities Structured Trade Finance (CSTF) in Global Trade Receivables Finance (GTRF) within Commercial Banking.
The role of the Commodities and Structured Trade Finance (CSTF) Senior Product Manager is to deliver on the policies, processes and systems/MI which underpin the CSTF product suite; to ensure GBAC/RBAC product approvals are obtained; to manage the new product approval process and product life-cycle reviews and product library; to provide business performance reports; manage external relationships with key industry counterparties and media; to support Risk in gathering, managing and reporting portfolio data; to manage the CSTF business’ approach to Basel 2/3 and to ensure an appropriate governance framework is in place to support the CSTF business through set-up and evolution to BAU.
Your responsibilities will include:
Impact on the Business
- Delivery of infrastructure, policies, processes and systems/MI that underpin the CSTF offering
- Delivering robust product and portfolio reporting to underpin cross customer group sales initiatives in support of Group EM strategy and LIB strategy.
- Responsible for ensuring delivery of operational and risk infrastructure to support global Revenues of USD 500M by close 2016
- Role holder will support CFRM’s drive for CSTF portfolio management coverage
Customers / Stakeholders
- Ensuring effective tools for CSTF delivery for Internal Customers
- CSTF BD, CMB and GB&M
- Driving the infrastructure to ensure timely and efficient delivery for External Customers – related CMB and GB&M clients and new prospects
- Delivering accurate and relevant MI to Stakeholders – GTRF, CMB, GB (REG/RBL/SESG), GM, Group Risk and regional risk functions
Leadership & Teamwork
- Share best practice with group offices and other business lines with region and globally
- Lead, motivate and inspire the team to achieve the Group strategy and business objectives
- Establish cultural and behavioural excellence and develop high engagement across the team
- Be ultimately responsible for the performance management of your team, using relevant performance management tools, ensuring timely action is taken to improve underperformance, to maximise effectiveness of the team.
- Share knowledge, experience and best practices with junior employees within and outside of immediate team and promote a collective culture to spread experience & best practice.
- Take a hands-on approach to coaching with regular & productive use of Personal Development Plans and appropriate follow up.
- Ensure development activities are a core priority and enable all team members to take reasonable time for learning and developmental activities.
- Ensure the team is resourced to headcount plan, sufficient to meet the demands and opportunities of the business.
- Develop appropriate retention strategies within the team’s cost plan.
- Manage succession for key roles using internal and selective hires where appropriate.

- Advise and support the respective Heads of the TMU and Risk functions in driving identification and development of best practice systems and processes ensuring roll-out to designated Hubs/sub-Hubs and Spokes
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Banking and Trade
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Product / Project Management
A desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered to customers
Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
A flexible and adaptable management style with experience of developing yourself and others
Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is a articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
Proven experience of successful project management, utilising relevant tools and techniques to ensure consistent delivery
The base location for this role is 8 Canada Square, London.
We are required by the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013 to create a ring-fenced bank in the UK by 1 January 2019. We will create the head office of our ring-fenced bank in Birmingham. This role may be relocated to Birmingham from 2017. Where the role holder is willing to move and it is practical to do so, the role may relocate before this time.
