Job description

The Collections Strategy Analyst role is based within Risk Management.

The role of the Collections Strategy Analyst is to deliver analytics that support change to Collections Strategy that adds benefit to the business. Undertake regular analytical review of collections strategy to highlight trends and opportunities for improvement. Ensuring all the relevant governance is followed. Working with stakeholders across Credit Risk Management and the operational areas to ensure all views and considerations are taken into account when undertaking analysis and recommendation.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Being accountable for analytical support of changes to strategy within Collections and Recoveries
· Assisting Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) to achieve improvement in loan impairment charge and operational efficiency (cost).
· Delivering of Data solutions to support the Collections and Recoveries areas
· Providing support provision to business areas where queries arise regarding collection strategies
· Producing and interpreting of collections and credit risk management information to aid with management of strategy and operations.
· Ensuring, through accurate specifications, testing and posting implementation reviews that solutions devised from their projects are implemented accurately and track to ensure that the associated benefits are seen
· Working with stakeholders within Credit Risk Management (CRM) and operations to ensure the status quo is challenged
· Being responsible for supporting stakeholders in their Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets
· Being accountable for analyses and production of information that drive value added strategy change / analytical projects
· Liaising with operations staff and CRM stakeholders to ensure operational input when required
· Being accountable for improvement in tools, data and area capabilities.
· Being accountable for standardising the best practices based on Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) guidelines

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Experience of working within financial services is desirable but not essential
·  Role relevant qualifications, i.e.Educated to degree level or equivalent is desirable but not essential
·  Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Good working Knowledge of MS office products and SAS is desirable is desirable but not essential
·  Flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
·  Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
·  Self-awareness with confidence to work independently and take responsibility for own development
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
·  Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques
·  Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these

The base location for this role is Birmingham

We are required by the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013 to create a ring-fenced bank in the UK by 1 January 2019. Entirely new from the ground up, HSBC UK's head office is opening in Birmingham. The location of this role will move to our new state of the art offices at 2 Arena Central during 2018.
