Cloud Engineer – Compliance IT

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join HSBC Technology.
HSBC IT has an ambitious strategy to move all on premise analytics workloads onto Google Cloud (GCP). At the same time, Compliance has started a large business programme (ILFCRM or Intelligence Lead Financial Crime Risk Management) to radically improve HSBC's financial crime risk systems & processes.
One of the objectives of ILFCRM is to build a new GCP application (called DRA or Dynamic Risk Assessment) that uses advanced machine learning techniques. DRA will provide (a) data scientists a secure environment for developing & training new ML models, and (b) an execution environment for running approved ML models in a controlled operational environment.
This role is for a Cloud Engineer in the DRA IT team. The successful candidate will help us develop and build-out our new DRA application in GCP.
Key duties include:

Help to deliver GCP development projects (including: design, development/coding, testing & deployment into Production). e.g.
·
Build event driven pipeline: a message is published by an HSBC system > Pub/Sub > Dataflow > model prediction > save results in BigQuery.
·
Build batch process: large file is generated in an HSBC Hadoop cluster > batch job transfers file to Google Cloud Storage > data is copied to BigQuery.
·
Write a complex Dataflow/Beam job in Java or Python to merge customer & reference data > update the customer profile in Bigtable > re-calculate customer risk score.
·
Build a secure analytics environment in GCP for Data Scientists (with tools like... Python, R, Jupyter notebook, ML libraries, BigQuery).
·
Collaborate with central teams (architecture, security, engineering, networks) who are responsible for delivering HSBC's baseline cloud architecture.
·
Collaborate with other development teams that are also working to deliver use cases on GCP (share best practice).
Desired profile
Qualifications :
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

Experience of full project lifecycle: requirements, design, development, testing, data, infrastructure.
·
Experience within a development role on a large cloud implementation / migration project, preferably GCP.
·
Knowledge of cloud architecture & cloud services (preferably GCP, but AWS is acceptable).
·
Java/Python experience.
·
Linux, Bash/shell scripting.
·
DevOps principles & tools (e.g. CICD, Jenkins, Github).
·
Agile development principles (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, MVP, Jira, Confluence).
·
Data (e.g. big data, databases, data pipelines, data transformation, metadata).
·
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written).
·
Ability to explain complex ideas and information.
T he base location for this role is Sheffield.
