Role Title: CDO Business Analyst

Role Purpose

· The GBM CDO function was initially established in July 2013 as part of a HSBC wide program to improve the management of data across the organisation. As the function has continued to evolve, the team is looking to build out stronger relationships across the GBM Business Units and Functional teams.

The team has an existing structure that has been looking at “foundation” level CDO deliverables including:

· Data Quality including Data Quality Dashboard
· Data Quality Issue Management
· Metadata Management
· Data Sharing & Data Usage

· In addition, the team has been engaged in or has been driving key regulatory programmes including BCBS, FCR, GDPR, CCAR and FRTB.
· The broader COO organisation has been building out a Data Analytics function to start driving tangible data benefits through Data Science capability. The team is in its infancy but has picked up discreet use cases with tangible Business benefits or risk reduction.
· The core objective of this role is work as part of a team of data quality, business analysts, US Global Business and Functions (GBGFs), and work closely with System owners to develop a best-in-class DQ remediation capabilities.
· The aim will be to show how we can support the delivery of either regulatory milestones or to use Data Analytics capabilities to deliver tangible benefits.

Core responsibilities will include (but not limited to);

· Overall ownership & co-ordination of DQIM & Remediation activities
· Prepare DQIM MI & communication packages for all meetings
· Drive and manage the Remediation process with creation, approval, development, and implementation of prioritized Issues in DQIM & Helios for critical projects
· Collaborate across GBGFs and IT teams to ensure accurate, agreed-upon data quality controls are developed and maintained
· Manage and oversee the implementation of the DQ SOP providing guidance and assistance on best practices, next steps, and template usage
· Produce monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of GBM CDO data governance status for executive reporting and ensure the quality and accuracy of Issues in the data governance tool
· Document and implement leading practices, standardized processes, and roles & responsibilities for measuring data consistency across systems

· The Head of DQIM & Measurement is based in New York or London but is part of a global team.

Key Accountabilities

· Remediate data quality Issues for customer, connected party, and transactional data to drive regulatory compliance and adoption of data as an asset
· Accelerate delivery of DQ remediation
· Ful understanding and remediation of data quality at the source and throughout the end-to-end data flow

Impact on Business

· Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behaviour

Customers / Stakeholders

· Coordinate stakeholders across multiple areas to oversee execution and acceleration of DQIM, including GBGFs, system owners and US HOST
· Collaborate with system owners to integrate system measurement in the GBM scope
· Socialize the DQIM across GBM and relevant stakeholders

Leadership & Teamwork

· Lead effective and efficient development of new DQIM, overseeing requirements, data sourcing, testing and BAU production maintenance. Cultivate an environment that supports collaboration and initiative

· Lead business-as-usual measurement efforts for completed DQ work

Operational Effectiveness & Control

· Growing demand to remediate more issues at the system with aggressive deadlines
· No defined approach has been established for following up with Issue owners

Role Dimensions

· New York or London location and initial focus but the role needs to ensure engagement across all GBM countries

· Role is part of a wider global team who will work across the Data Quality Organization

· Role is part of a wider CDO and COO organisation who support GBM Business units

· Engagement across all GBM CDO regional teams (HK, US, EMEA/UK)

· GBM focus but engagement across HSBC Group DMO & Line of Business CDO teams where appropriate.

Observation of Internal Controls

· The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures.
· The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Group Chief Data Officer, Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
· Significant responsibilities in relation to adherence to Information Security, data access, EUC and product governance FIMs and policies. Varying data protection frameworks must be adhered to across country analytics teams.

Qualifications :

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

·  Prior experience with data quality Issue management & remediation for large financial institutions
·  DQIM or similar, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency

· Knowledge and experience of data management and measurement tools, such as DQIM, Helios, and QlikView

Desired:

· Knowledge and experience of Data Management principals and their practical application

· Knowledge and experience of Data Quality Issue remediation process

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

· Ability to build a collaborative and constructive partnership with relevant project teams and/or SMEs for content development.

·  Good understanding of the Group and the GBM business, including products, services, systems and processes, also sales process and the relationship management model
·  Good understanding of value generation in GBM, its economic model and strategy
·  Experience of managing and delivering cross-functional programmes
·  Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment especially in the financial services sector.
·  Directly relevant analytical experience within financial services or an alternative data driven organization
