Job description

HSBC is one of the largest Banks in the world, with offices in more than 50 countries around the globe. The Bank is divided into segments and this Apprenticeship will be based within Business Banking in the UK.
Business Banking is the largest segment and the cornerstone of Commercial Banking in the UK, with 1500 colleagues serving over 1 million customers with annual turnover of up to £6.5m.

As a Business Banking Apprentice you will be employed on a full time basis in the Business Specialist role. You will be based in the branch network and responsible for providing high quality service to our customers and identifying new opportunities. You will be focussed on delivering excellent customer service and be proactive in identifying the needs of our business customers from start-up new businesses to those with an annual turnover up to £500k.
 
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
Put customers at the heart of all that you do
Offer suitable value-added advice to new and existing customers
Win new to Bank customers by establishing a network with key business introducers in the local community and working in partnership with them
Ensure proactive relationship building and that customer contact plans are in place for both existing and new customers
Deliver appropriate products and services in response to customer needs
Protect the bank’s assets and reputation by performing due diligence on the customer and their business, monitoring for suspicious behaviour, and take appropriate action as set out in the banks operating policies
Take prompt and appropriate action to address customer queries and complaints at the first point of contact
Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile within the local business community
Business Banking Apprenticeship with HSBC
You will work towards and complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification in Providing Financial Services (equivalent to Level 3)
You will gain Certificate in Business Banking & Conduct (Cert BB&C®) (equivalent to Level 3)
The Scheme has no prescribed timescale for completion, as people learn at different speeds however the average we would expect it to take is 14
- 18 months.

What will be expected from you?
We ask for your commitment to develop and learn, and to be willing to devote some of your own time to see the programme through to its conclusion.
During your time in the office you will be collating evidence of learning, be observed and receive feedback from the Talent Coach. This is averaged over a 14
- 18 month period and includes time spent at the beginning of the programme completing ‘sign-up’ & functional skills assessments, as well as time at the end to take examinations.

Qualifications/Requirements
 
The successful candidate for this role must have:
Minimum 8 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics at Grade C or above
Minimum 2 A levels (or equivalent) at/predicted Grade D or above
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Excellent team working skills
Strong customer focus  
Clear communication skills
An ability to forge strong relationships
Experience of the work place is desirable through Volunteering or Work experience
A desire to learn and work at pace with changing priorities
Be highly proactive and effectively manage your own time
Be an effective networker with the ability to maintain positive working relationships
 
Please note – this Apprenticeship Scheme is a School Leaver Programme and we will only accept applications from those without a degree qualification or equivalent.  This is not a graduate programme.
