The Business Risk and Controls (BRCM) Manager role is based within the Central support function for the European Regional Risk team. The European Risk function comprises of over 5,500 FTE across the Risk functional areas (Risk Strategy, Wholesale Market Risk, Retail Risk, Operational Risk, Security & Fraud Risk and Compliance), supporting the Global Businesses across 22 countries.
 
As a member of the Regional BRCM (Business Risk & Control Management) Team this role assists with the implementation of the risk and control strategy as set out by the Global Risk Function BRCMs.  Ensuring the consistent and effective implementation and performance of operational risk and control assurance of the 1st Line of Defence for Global Risk. The BRCM Manager will be tasked with control assurance, control improvement, regional / country /functional risk assessments, MSII logging/tracking, Incident reporting and BRCM MI reporting including KI’s.

Your responsibilities will include:
Implementing the 1st line of defence, following the methodology and strategy set by the Regional Lead BRCM.  This will involve monitoring key controls on a cyclical basis and reporting the findings via written reports
Testing the controls over the 1st line of defence activities within the units that make up the Europe Risk function.
Facilitating Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs) which identify the key risks, their impact and the relevant controls.
Leading and facilitating Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs) refresh workshops, in order to support functions manage  their key risks.
Managing relationships with key contacts and stakeholders.  These are likely to include country Chief Risk Officers and Country Functional Heads.
Challenging local management when good business risk management is not evident e.g. poor Risk & Control Assessments, slow resolution of outstanding issues.  Escalate where necessary

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Experience of Control Monitoring Testing and Facilitating Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs) is required.
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Operational Risk/Business Risk/Internal Audit in Large & Complex Global Financial Services organisations.
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Proven experience of implementing 3 Lines of Defence Models, with focus on testing 1st Line of Defence Controls
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Availability to undertake travel commensurate with a regional role.  This may require visiting sites throughout the region to conduct reviews and assist local management.
Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite and Lotus Notes is desirable but not essential
A track record of gaining an understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service
Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
Promoted and led best practice in risk and compliance management in a similar organisation
Experience of building effective customer relationships which create customer advocacy
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and good attention to detail
 
The base location for this role is 8 Canada Square, London.
