Job description

The GCB5 Business Intelligence and Strategy Development role is based within the Channel Optimisation team, part of UK Distribution within Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM).

The role of the Business Intelligence and Strategy Development is to provide process-driven analysis and support the creation of accurate reports used for the production of business intelligence and function specific custom reports and management information in relation to the optimisation of the Branch Network. The role holder is an intermediate professional applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete tasks; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. Support the construction, calculation or delivery of business intelligence, performance or attribution; they possess good job knowledge; can analyse problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions, process data exceptions support the resolution of routine issues.

Your responsibilities will include:
·  Work with key functions (finance, corporate real estate and Commercial Banking - CMB) to develop identified opportunities to report effectively in support of business commercial and regulatory initiatives, operational efficiency and efficacy.
·  Act as data thought leaders, promoting the power of data to drive our strategy and maximise revenue opportunities
·  Take advantage of the wealth of data available and maintain our market leading analytics position within the industry
·  Collaborate with the Customer Research team to triangulate intelligence and ensure that we offer a rounded view of our customers from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective.
·  Build statistical and reporting models to support strategic decision making
·  Ensure that the capability remains at the forefront of developments and new trends in analytics and research to ensure that the Company remains ahead of competitors and the market.
·  Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and ensure work is prioritised according to business need and opportunity.
·  Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
·  Individuals are responsible for their own effectiveness, development and results. Specialist or Subject Matter Experts, where matrix management and understanding of Group strategy is expected. Their contribution is often as a technical/professional specialist in their field.

·  Apply policies, procedures, practices and standards to their allocated tasks, taking responsibility for their own actions, to ensure the achievement of high levels of quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
·  Coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure central Management Information (MI) reporting is robust and timely

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Working within an analytical role/ Data analysis role
·  Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Advanced Excel skills
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Branch Networks is desirable but not essential
·  Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Financial Services, Retail Banking, is desirable but not essential
·  Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
·  A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
·  Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
·  A broad understanding of financial budgets/statements/models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting
