Job description
The Business Analytics Manager role is based within Actuarial and Risk Analytics (ARA), which is a centre of excellence established within Global Risk, providing actuarial and analytical services to businesses and teams across HSBC in order to achieve improved leverage of skills within a Solvency II compliant framework. The team consists of nearly 60 professional risk experts, with backgrounds covering risk, actuarial and analytics, providing technical support and analysis to multiple territories across the Western hemisphere.
The role of the Business Analytics Manager is to act as a one of two lead actuaries within the Business Analytics team acting as a primary production point for the in scope of Business Units and other customers of Actuarial and Risk Analytics (“ARA”) in respect of all actuarial reporting and monitoring processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
Coordinate the production of the capital results for both external (i.e. Regulatory Capital) and internal (i.e. Economic Capital) use and report to stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner
Coordinate the production of the actuarial aspects of the profit reporting results for both external and internal use (including reserves, PVIF, IFRS/GAAP) and report to stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner
Coordinating and validating sensitivities, projections, stress tests and scenarios to support the business
Monitoring and reporting on product and project profitability to the relevant Company and BU governance forums
Supporting ad hoc analyses and investigations as required
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of knowledge of insurance products
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Life Insurance
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Solvency II/ economic capital, Regulatory and IFRS reporting requirements
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent)
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. A broad understanding of financial budgets/statements/models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. the role is based in Southampton but flexibility will be required, including travel to London
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes is desirable but not essential
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Moses, Prophet or SAS is desirable but not essential
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
Proven experience of successful project management, utilising relevant tools and techniques to ensure consistent delivery
A comprehensive understanding of business finance and management information and an ability to use this information to inform decisions and deliver efficiencies/savings
A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
Used their business knowledge and understanding of customer needs to successfully manage and grow customer relationships
In addition to the details listed above,the ability to speak Spanish, Portuguese or French would be an advantage.
The base location for this role is Southampton.
