Job description

The Business Analyst - Fircosoft Subject Matter Expert role is based within the Global WOLF team, within Global Payment Services, within HSBC Operations Systems and Technology (HOST).

The role of the Business Analyst - Fircosoft Subject Matter Expert is to provide support to HSBC's Global Filter Management Sanctions Screening applications.

The Global WOLF team ensures that the Group transaction screening system (based around the Fircosoft suite of products) works effectively and aligns with Global Compliance policy. This role will provide functional and analytical support for the day to day maintenance of the WOLF filters globally, covering the sanction list data, Rules, Grey lists, exclusion creation – plus upgrades to the filter and resource files.

You will operate within a challenging environment and to tight timeframes, therefore it is key that you can work effectively and lead a team to deliver the high level of accuracy and quality required for this system.

This opportunity will appeal to candidates with Fircosoft expertise who are interested in having a genuine impact on shaping how HSBC deliver on the outstanding Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) and monitoring commitments, on a global platform.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Providing Subject Matter Expertise support to the team across the Fircosoft suite.
· Analysing and managing 360-degree impact of changing requirements.
· Being a key contributor in the establishment of a first-class BAU sanctions screening team for the Group.
· Guiding the team on sanctions screening requirements and taking a lead in actions needed to adopt change across multiple countries by applying your in-depth knowledge of the Fircosoft suite.
· Operating within a peer review environment, assuring the quality of deliverables
· Seeking opportunities to reengineer and improve business processes
· Helping the business to define the right requirements, challenging their assumptions and preconceptions, in order to drill-down to the underlying business problems and opportunities
· Working with the Business Subject Matter Experts to understand the business problem provided in the business requirements.
· Performing regular and ad-hoc tasks as they arise.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Excellent knowledge of the Fircosoft Utility suite, including; FFF, FMM and FML
·  Full understanding of the Filter algorithms and other configuration settings
·  Good understanding of payments, securities and trade messages.
·  Excellent knowledge of International sanctions regulations and implementation criteria
·  Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. infrequent travel within the UK for team meetings
·  A track record of gaining an understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service
·  Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
·  Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
·  Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
·  Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
·  A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these
