We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, HR Advisory

Business: Human Resources

Principal responsibilities

·  Apply problem solving skills and analytical reasoning with HR knowledge to find appropriate solutions to complex people challenges that arise, escalating for guidance or decisions where appropriate, including those covering employee policies or statutory laws & regulations etc.
·  Conduct thorough and objective investigations of alleged violations of the organization's conduct and other policies, and procedures.
·  Handling senior business stakeholders, involvement in ER/Investigation communities.
·  Provide options and risk assessed advice & guidance to the business.
·  Evidence of problem analysis, risk assessment and appropriate commercially aware solutions given to the business: identified through casework.
·  Strict adherence to the requirements of confidentiality, discretion and integrity.
·  Demonstrates contribution to knowledge management content to support continuous improvement of HR services and products. Provide advice and guidance through a range of channels, e.g., case management tools, click to chat and telephone, balancing face to face contact as necessary.
·  Work with Employee Relations, HR Business Partners and other SMEs for opportunities, continuous improvement and resolutions for complex cases, system or process improvement.
·  Apply a risk-based approach within the commercial context and considering the need to protect and promote the bank’s reputation when providing support and guidance related to people issues.
·  Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations, as well as best practices in investigation. Escalate flaws/gaps in policy and process to the appropriate relationship manager in the HR Advisory team and/or other teams as appropriate.
·  To deliver as appropriate focus groups training and briefings to the business in areas as required.

Operational Effectiveness

·  Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and observe the Group HR functional Internal manuals, ER Investigations Framework and other org policies including adherence with recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
·  Highlight where processes could be improved or simplified.
·  All applicable SLAs, quality and other targets associated with ER Investigations work are met.
·  Use the ServiceNow tools to manage queries/investigations effectively, ensuring case details are logged accurately and no data or privacy risk concerns.

Risk and Controls

·  The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
·  The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with risk owners. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply

·  Set expectations, share best practices, and provide feedback to ensure Investigators maximise their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience.
·  Escalate any queries/issues that are outside own knowledge/experience.
·  Work effectively and professionally with colleagues across the Organisation.
·  Provide feedback and recommendations to management to contribute to improved quality and efficiency of area activities.
·  Help cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand, thereby contributing towards high employee engagement and motivation.
·  Be sensitive to cross cultural nuances and exhibit maturity and tolerance in managing the same.

Requirements

·  Practical experience gained in one or more of Employee Relations in addition to Performance & Reward or Learning & Talent Development
·  Relevant experience in Employee Grievance handling, Conduct management and workplace investigations.
·  Basic understanding of Employment rules and statutory employee regulations.
·  Ability to understand complex situations and provide clear guidance and, where necessary, challenge others.
·  Accurate and detail conscious, able to quickly spot errors in data and gaps in information, confidently seeking clarification and explanation.
·  A proactive self-starter with a “can-do”, customer focused approach who can learn quickly from experience.
·  An understanding of the business environment (within HSBC and/or the industry) to ensure that advice & guidance aligns with business aims & goals.
·  Degree/diploma in management or HR

What additional skills will be good to have?

·  Degree in law
·  Studying or completed a Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) professional qualification (from Level 3 upwards)
·  Prior HR Business Partner experience
·  Experience of managing the people aspects of change programs.
·  Financial Services (or Professional Services) background
