Job description

The Associate Director role is based within Commercial Banking (CMB) Origination.

The role of the Associate Director (AD) is to lead the documentation phase of transactions which are priced and structured by Commercial Banking Origination, from the early stage documentation through to negotiation and completion.

This is a close knit and welcoming team operating within a dynamic and fast growing environment.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Performing as an AD within Corporate Banking Origination (CMBO), which is responsible for providing support to the Corporate Banking Centres (“CBCs”) in both the UK and Europe excluding France and Germany, and Corporate Banking Real Estate Teams (“CBRE”) in the UK by originating and executing a full suite of capital markets and debt financing solutions.
· Lead multi-bank loan transactions, via leading a syndication process or co-ordinating a ‘club' arrangement.
· Assist the CMBO team by leading in all aspects of loan execution to ensure HSBC remains “Best in Class”.
· Provision of excellent client service, maximising the bank's financial return, in particular managing the RWAs and economic profit, while adhering to the HSBC Credit Policy and operational integrity.
· Ensure CMBO operates in accordance with the Bank's internal lending and other guidelines, controls and procedures and also in line with any external regulatory requirements.
· Support the Bank's overall Best Place to Bank, Work and Invest strategies.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of LMA loan documentation, and the syndicated loans market more generally .
·  Willingness to undertake the training/study required in this role, i.e. If not currently Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) approved, the selected candidate must achieve Certified Person Competency, within two years of joining the team
·  Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of M& ATransactions, Complex lending products i.e bridges and post IPO financing is desirable but not essential
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Loans Execution is desirable but not essential
·  Role relevant qualifications, i.e. FCA approved (CF30), Legal qualification a plus but not essential is desirable but not essential
·  Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Loans Execution is desirable but not essential
·  A desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered to customers
·  Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
·  A flexible and adaptable management style with experience of developing yourself and others
·  Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
·  Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
·  A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
·  Experience of successfully structuring complex business lending deals, accounting for the associated risks and regulations
·  A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
