Global Banking and Markets provides financial services and products to corporates, governments and institutions worldwide, building partnerships with them to help them achieve consistent, long-term performance. We use the strength of HSBC's international network to connect emerging and mature markets, covering key growth areas. Our products and services include advisory, financing, prime services, research and analysis, securities services, trading and sales, and transaction banking. We serve our customers through teams of relationship managers and product specialists, who work to build a comprehensive understanding of each client's financial requirements and develop services to meet those needs.
Our Associate, Corporates- Global Banking Canada is accountable to the Directors, Global Banking supporting the management of a portfolio of client relationships, develop new businesses and maintain existing relationships with a view to grow the balance sheet, improve returns and increase operating revenues from a portfolio of resources and energy sector clients in Canada. The Global Banking Montreal group has a specific focus on Quebec based corporate sector client. The position requires strong credit analysis and close interaction with all major product areas including debt and equity capital markets, leveraged & acquisition financing, treasury, derivatives, payments and cash management as well as global HSBC Group offices.
Principle Accountabilities include:
· Work with line manager to identify and target new relationships.
· Drive utilization of facilities to assist the team in meeting budget targets.
· Prepare of credit papers – annual reviews; requests for increase; etc.
· Attend to client queries and concerns by problem solving and facilitating the process by liaising with product and support areas.
· Ensure prompt and appropriate response to customer enquiries and internal reporting requirements.
· Cross-sell the Bank's products to new and existing accounts.
· Participate in activities of the REG coverage team by supporting projects to enhance products, services, process that impact our business.
· Work within a team environment and ensuring a high level of communication between line manager and other team members.
· Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.
· Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the furthering the Global Banking business.
· Ongoing management of financial crime risk as it pertains to AML and KYC
· Regular dialogue with clients whether by phone or in person.
· Work closely with Markets sales teams in order to implement client plans and bring on new client relationships that are targeted to meet revenue hurdles.
· Work closely with Credit Risk Management and product areas in order to present written recommendations to Credit Risk for approval.
· Communicate with internal product specialists including Treasury, Derivatives, FX, Fixed Income Sales.
· Preparation of client marketing materials, presentations and pitch books.
Desired profile
Qualifications :
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
· Fluently bi-lingual in French / English a requirement, with third language capabilities considered an asset.
· Experience of running own portfolio and relationship management
· Excellent communication skills
· Team player
· Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
· Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
· Knowledge of HSBC Group structures, credit and reporting systems.
· CFA would be considered an asset.
