Job description

The Assistant Manager, FCC Assurance role is based within Financial Crime Risk Effectiveness (FCRE), a subteam within Financial Crime Assurance.

The role of the Assistant Manager, Financial Crime and Compliance (FCC) Assurance is to undertake periodic functional reviews of the Europe FCC functions, in accordance with a risk based model and in support of the Global FCC Assurance model. The role holder will be supposed to develop, manage and fulfil on a timely basis a schedule of functional assurance reviews of FCC teams in the region.

The job holder will be expected to instruct and direct other members of the team and take decisions based on their knowledge and experience. When unsure, guidance should be sought from the Europe Head of FCC Assurance.

The jobholder is expected to act proactively and come up with ideas for enhancements to the team's activities.

Travel across the region will be required.

The work is supposed to take place in highly regulated environment and the job holder will review Financial Crime teams within countries. The role will require travel within Europe (22 countries - reviewing FC teams within those countries) for conducting reviews and writing reports.

The role holder will have the opportunity to look at different Financial Crime teams in different countries. Candidate will work across all areas of Financial Crime.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Assist in carrying out reviews of the Europe FCC functions in accordance with the planned review schedule.
· Support the preparation and issue of reports of each functional review.
· Maintain up to date records of the implementation of review recommendations.
· Assist with the production of Management Information (MI) in relation to the reviews undertaken.
· Achievement/feedback.
· Understand stakeholders needs.
· Highlight to Europe Head of FCC Assurance situations in which the stakeholders have conflicting goals.
· Act with a high levels of integrity, conduct and performance against ethical standards.
· Maintenance of relevant chapters of internal Desk Instruction Manual.
· Robust and timely record keeping.
· Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

·  Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Banking products (Retail, Global Markets (GM), Commercial Banking (CMB), Private)
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Financial Crime within Financial Services sector
·  Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Experience reviewing Financial Crime controls and their effectiveness
·  Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. 3 or 4 weeks per quarter travelling to Europe.
·  Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Third-Party Relationships is desirable but not essential
·  Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Anti Money Laundering (AML) qualification is desirable but not essential
·  Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
·  Self awareness with confidence to work independently and take responsibility for own development
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach
·  Worked collaboratively with other colleagues, supporting them when possible
·  Experience of making timely and rational decisions, based on relevant information and experience
·  Experience of planning and prioritising their own time effectively, aware of their responsibilities and committed to delivering these efficiently
·  Proven experience of successful project management, utilising relevant tools and techniques to ensure consistent delivery
·  A broad understanding of financial budgets/statements/models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting
·  Promoted and led best practice in risk and compliance management in a similar organisation
·  Experience of building and managing complex relationships with significant customers
·  In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have:
·  Good communication skills both oral and written.
·  Experience of a range of business activities, product lines and regulatory topics.
·  Knowledge of Group Standard Manual (GSM) / Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) requirements.
·  Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively and proven ability to meet challenging deadlines.
·  Tenacity to follow issues through to resolution.
·  Team player who focuses on delivery and continuous improvement.
The base location for this role is Chester or Whiteley.
