Job description
The Assistant Compliance Manager role is based within the UK Financial Crime Compliance team in Global Banking and Markets.
The role of the Assistant Compliance Manager is to support building robust quality frame work, governance of the risk management, change management and building internal controls within the Global Banking and Markets (GB&M) Financial Crime Compliance (FCC).
You will need a good understanding of the international sanctions and AML requirements in the UK. A knowledge of the Joint Money Laundering Steering Grounp (JMLSG) and industry standards would be preferential.
Global Banking & Markets FCC acts as the Second Line of Defence providing a range of services to the Business. This includes providing specialist advice to the Relationship Managers (on the Banking side) and the product areas (such as Markets, Capital Financing, and HSBC Securities Services).GB&M FCC acts as the first point of contact for all Anti Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions and Anti-Bribery & Corruption related matters for the Global Banking and Markets (GB&M) Business.
The Risk & Control Team has a holistic view of all the activities of GB&M FCC ranging from Higher Risk Review, Advisory, Customer Due Diligence concurrence of Bank's highest risk clients and Change Management activities. The annual Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment exercise provides an overview of the AML and Sanctions risks that the Business is operating under and the relevant controls in place.
The jobholder will support implementation of Global Standards, HSBC's two new global policies which set our controls for AML and Sanctions.
GB&M FCC uses variety of systems ranging from a system used for Higher Risk Reviews to the various Customer Due Diligence onboarding platforms.
This role will provide the jobholder a comprehensive knowledge of FCC related matters for GB&M. This is further complimented by regular interaction with FCC stakeholders within other Business lines such as Commercial Banking, Retail Banking and Wealth Management and Private Banking.
Travelling is not included at this present moment.
HSBC provides face-to-face as well as mandatory e-learning training. The jobholder will be coached by the Line Management and existing members of the Risk & Control Team, as appropriate. HSBC also supports the staff development by way of providing professional qualifications as appropriate.

Your responsibilities will include:
Embed the Financial Crime Risk Appetite Statement into the GB&M FCC function to mitigate risk through effective controls.
Manage completion of Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) for GB&M FCC (UK).
Ensure any reportable events are reported and escalated to Senior Management in the prescribed format.
Ensure any findings identified by internal or external stakeholders such as BRCMs, FCC Monitoring / Assurance or Internal Audit related to GB&M FCC are risk mitigated.
Foster a close and continuous working relationship with key stakeholders
Support the implementation of Global Standards
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. AML, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Sanctions
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. FCC Monitoring/Assurance and Audit
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Investment banking is desirable but not essential
A flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
Self awareness with confidence to work independently and take responsibility for own development
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
