Job description
The role of the Analytics Associate is to perform analysis of the HSBC Global Banking and Commercial Banking credit and lending portfolios to help the business reduce risk exposure whilst growing income and portfolio profitability. This role is based within Global Client Coverage, within the Wholesale Portfolio Management (WPM) team.
WPM operates as a global function across both Global Banking & Markets and Commercial Banking. Portfolio Management Analytics (PMA) sits within WPM and is responsible for the delivery of first class analysis on the HSBC credit portfolio resulting in actionable intelligence for the business which helps to i) mitigate credit risk, ii) optimise usage of capital and iii) enhance portfolio profitability. The team supports all areas of CMB and GBM through the portfolio origination, execution and management processes via the delivery of pricing tools, MI, Analysis, Insight and business support. The PMA team is currently spread across three locations in London, Bangalore and Manila. Our internal customers range from front line relationship managers to senior business heads, as well as working closely with Risk and Capital Management functions.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Using Analytical techniques to produce actional intelligence on HSBCs credit and lending portfolio
· Working with the concepts of capital (Economic Capital, Regulatory Capital) to model strengths, weaknesses and opportunities within our business
· Performing Sensitivity Analysis on the HSBC credit portfolio to understand our resilience to market conditions
· Offering Subject Matter Expertise on all subjects relating to Credit Risk, Market Risk, Risk Weighted Assets (RWAs), Return on Risk Weighted Asset (RoRWA), Capital, portfolio analysis etc.
· Playing an active role in activities across the full breadth of PMA responsibilities

Qualifications :
The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:
· Excellent understanding of Credit Risk, its key drivers and how macroeconomic factors influence risk
· Understanding and experience of banking products in the corporate space
· Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
· Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
· Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
· A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
· A successful track record of delivering complex projects and/or programmes, utilising appropriate techniques and tools to ensure and measure success
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have a track record of:
· Technical programming capability i.e. SAS/SQL/VBA
· Experience and proficiency of working with large data sets, ideally credit risk related
· Foreign language skills
The base location of this role will be 8 Canada Square, London
