Our Analyst, Financial Institutions Group- Global Banking Canada is responsible for supporting the coverage of major financial institution client relationships in Canada through focused business development activities. This involves working closely with a variety of product groups to deliver a comprehensive range of products and services such as Strategic Advisory, Credit, DCM, ECM, Markets, Treasury and Transaction Banking
Principal Accountabilities include:
· This position is accountable to the Head of Financial Institutions Group (FIG), and will support the entire team in the management and development of FIG relationships and prospects in Canada.
· Identify business development opportunities, undertaking appropriate financial analysis and preparation of proposals, presentations and pitches for new products and services.
· Assist in the management of and marketing to client relationships and prospects by acting as primary point of contact for clients and internal colleagues.
· Provide support to senior bankers in all aspects of the client portfolio to achieve targets, service the relationships and enhance income generation. Liaise with members of the client service team, ensuring a coordinated approach to enhancing the client relationship.
· Establish strong relationships with key individuals in clients' management team
· Develop and maintain individual client plans. Monitor income generation and effectively manage the financial reporting and analysis for the client portfolio. Maintain and monitor deal pipeline periodically.
· Provide high quality industry sector, competitor and client level analysis to support the credit process.
· Assisting in closing new transactions subsequent to credit approval, including the completion of security documentation and the proper booking of transactions internally, ensuring compliance with internal controls to properly monitor and administer the transactions.
· Ensure robust standard of AML/KYC compliance in respect of relationship on-boarding and ongoing review of KYC renewals.
· Undertake added value work on behalf of the sector in relations to various credit returns e.g. LER, Industry caps, PQR etc.
· Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
· Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.
· Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the furtherment of the Global Banking business.
· Supporting the team in dealing with client requests/enquiries.
· Dealing with internal stakeholders including credit, product specialists and operations.
· Communication with internal product specialists including DCM, ECM, Markets, Leveraged Finance, Treasury, Derivatives, Payments and Cash Management, as well as global HSBC offices.
· Assistance with various strategy papers to support departmental efforts in establishing new products and market opportunities.
· Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
· Research, credit analysis, and customer support.
· Timely completion of all internal and external reports, and development of new reports to effectively monitor department performance. Establishment, development, control and analysis of Bank profitability reports.
· Department credit audit and subsequent reporting.
· Ensure that all employees are aware of and effectively identify and manage applicable money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), sanctions and reputational risks.
· Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
Desired profile
Qualifications :
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
· Strong knowledge of financial analysis and modelling. Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, client and products and provide a high quality analysis of credit risk.
· Strong business development skills. Ability to establish rapport and build relationships with members of clients' management teams
· A well organized, solutions-focused mindset in addition to an exceptional attention to detail is a requisite.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and presentation skills.
· Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
· Understanding of risk management and credit mitigants.
· Ability to lead marketing infinitives and provide support to senior coverage bankers.
· Knowledge of banking practices and procedures acquired through comparable financial institution/financial market experience.
· Familiarity with the full range of Global Banking & Markets products and services is an asset.
· Business related degree such as a B.Com or equivalent. Enrolment in or completion of an MBA or CFA program is an asset.
