Within HSBC, certain roles are designated as High Risk Roles. Role Overview:
Member of the Equity Institutional Sales team based in Dubai. This is a Sales Trader role, dedicated to covering executing orders for all clients on the MENA equity platform. This team reports to MENA heads of Equity Institutional Sales in Dubai, UAE and functionally into Head of Equity Sales, EEMEA. The role focuses on providing HSBC's external clients with the access to HSBC's MENA Equity trading capabilities (mainly cash, P-notes, Equity Swaps and derivatives). In terms of product lines this covers primary markets & secondary market in cash equities, P-note offers, Equity Swaps on MENA stocks and equity derivatives (Options and Equity linked notes) on international stocks. There are specific revenue targets and all activity must be conducted within the bank's credit appetite and limits.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• One of the Sales areas within MENA Institutional Sales responsible for:
• Primary markets: IPO / ABB / Private Placements
• Secondary markets: cash equities, P-notes & Equity swaps
• OTC and listed Equity Derivatives
• Single stock equities
• Indices
• Baskets
• Total return swaps / delta one
• Equity flow options
• Structured equity product (notes / structured deposits)
• Support the leader of GM EQD sales, working within the team and be a role model for HSBC
values
• Represent GM MENA across the HSBC Group
• Represent HSBC externally with clients, regulators and other third parties as required
• Ensure candidate has proper understanding of the Group's FIM, there is a Global DIM in place for
cash equity & equity derivatives sales.
• Implement where required and maintain an effective control framework consistent with the areas
of responsibility.
• Understand all regulatory and compliance matters and the management of operational risk for
the cash equity & equity derivatives sales.
• Adhering to and promoting the “Three Lines of Defense” culture.
• Policy of Zero audit breaches and tight control on sales errors
• Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and
transparent operation of financial markets
Desired profile
Qualifications :
Experience & Qualifications:
• Demonstrated market knowledge, ideally some experience in a multi-product business unit with
accountability for a P&L
• Demonstrated knowledge of technology development and infrastructure and how this can be used
to meet business needs
• Ability to understand operational risk effectively
• Experience working across cultures
• Knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market
Role:
• Interpersonal and communication skills are indispensable because this type of job requires
person-to-person interactions (cold calling, sales pitch, etc.) on a daily basis.
• Experience in dealing with clients and managing client relationships
• In addition to the traditional sales skills, the role requires good analytical skills in order to be able
to understand and assess client's needs.
Product:
• A master's degree in finance, economics or engineering is preferable as the role requires
thorough understanding of different types of derivative instruments.
• Having some knowledge Equity flow & derivatives is a pre-requisite
• Having exposure to the MENA markets is certainly an added advantage.
