The Agriculture Relationship Director role is based within MME, Commercial Banking.
 
The role of the Agriculture Relationship Director is to manage and develop a portfolio of commercial agricultural relationships. In addition, you will be responsible for the acquisition of new clients and building HSBC's profile in the Agriculture and Professional communities. All business transactions must be sensitively matched to our customers’ needs and maintaining service excellence is at the centre of all activity.
 
The Agriculture Relationship Director role is based within a successful and growing Agriculture Team within Corporate Banking . Against a competitive backdrop, the bank seeks to grow, through the acquisition of Agriculture customers, retention of existing custom and by improving the average return per customer. Our attention is strongly focused on three core areas, of our people, delivering outstanding service and ensuring we create value for money for customers.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing and growing income from a very active and diverse portfolio of agriculture relationships
Developing and strengthening relationships with customers, prospects and professionals
Building HSBC's profile in the Agriculture community, managing relationships with key professionals and business introducers in the sector
Maintaining a high profile within the local community and having a reputation for excellence
Identifying opportunities to build networks across the business locally and globally to support business development with other business areas to meet customers' needs comprehensively
Displaying exemplary levels of credit/operational risk and customer satisfaction
Analysing financial accounts for customers to provide them with insight and advice

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e.  Relationship Management/Business Development /Agriculture related
A full, valid driver's license
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Travel within area
A desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered to customers
Experience of supporting others' performance, enabling them to achieve by providing clear direction, motivation and support
Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same 
A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these
A track record of effectively handling complex sales, to meet the needs of demanding customers, in a fair and ethical way
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have:
A track record of gaining an understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
The base location for this role is Preston and will cover all of Cumbria
