Job description
The Ab Initio Platform Analyst role is based within the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) within the Global Standards division.
The role of the Ab Initio Platform Analyst is to build and support Ab Initio environments and their users for the benefit of the FIU.
As a member of a small team, a large degree of flexibility will be required in order to meet the project's expectations and needs. FIU's projects are part of the Global Standards (GS) programme which is HSBC’s strategic response to the findings of the US Permanent Senate Committee and the Deferred Prosecution Agreement with the US Department of Justice.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the standardisation and automation of environment builds.
This role will utilise State of the art technologies, and works within a closely knit team consisting of IT and business, agile and is an exciting environment. This role is attractive as it will allow the individuals to see their work make a valuable contribution to the success of the project. The role will directly help to prevent financial crime.
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and building new FIU Ab Initio environments (development, test and production)
Administering and supporting active FIU Ab Initio environments to ensure they are fit for purpose
Translating complex business requirements into effective technology solutions
Ensure compliance with Architecture & Information Security standards
Support the use of Express>It across business teams ensuring they can meet their business goals and objectives
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Ab Initio
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Ab Initio support or development
Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. Linux
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of SaltStack/Puppet/Chef/Ansible, Openstack/Vmware is desirable but not essential
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Compliance and Financial Crime is desirable but not essential
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Mathematics, Engineering, and / or Computer Science degree or equivalent experience is desirable but not essential
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Active Directory, Kerberos is desirable but not essential

Experience of supporting others' performance, enabling them to achieve by providing clear direction, motivation and support

Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
Supported project teams/managers, showing an understanding of the basic principles of project management
A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these
The base location for this role is Sheffield (Griffin House).
