Job description
Application maintenance and support analyst. This is a VME Live Support technical role requiring incident investigation, problem analysis, RCA and software development in support of large scale, complex applications. The role requires flexibility, with good communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have a technical background in supporting applications for large scale systems. The person must be able to work in a team and demonstrate the ability to follow ITIL processes. Good problem solving skills are required with the ability to analyse and determine root cause in a methodical way.
Functions of the role will include:
Analyse and resolve new incidents to documented standards within agreed timeframes.
Provide documented workarounds for repeat incidents for Application Support to handle repeat incidents
Perform root cause analysis for new problems.
Provide problem statements in clear and concise business terms to enable client impacting and problem progression.
Design, develop and implement problem fixes within agreed timescales.
Impact and implement Change Requests to agreed timescales.
Desired profile
Knowledge and Skills:
More than 2 years’ experience performing incident or problem management or experience of developing code using VME COBOL and SCL
Experience on one or more full release project life cycles.
An understanding of modern SCM (software configuration management).
Basic understanding of testing tools and unit and integration test scripting, and testing methodologies.
Able to apply consistently quality and security standards.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Training will be provided in the specific applications the person will be expected to support. Cross training in other applications and knowledge transfer to other team members will also be required.
The role is to work within a team supporting a variety of application systems. The hours of work are flexible to suit the client’s requirements, with core hours typically between 8:00am and 4:00pm.
Clearance to BPSS level is mandatory. This will be arranged for any person not currently Security Cleared.
