HP Vertica is seeking motivated, highly talented individuals for opportunities as Systems Software Engineers in Pittsburgh, PA.
Projects
The HP Vertica Pittsburgh Team leads Hadoop integration, backup and restore, and database recovery. This office is the driving force that is making Vertica among the fastest, most reliable SQL-on-Hadoop engines for big data analytics. We're also revolutionizing backup and restore and database recovery in the big data space, making these operations efficient on a petabyte scale databases.

Vertica Systems was founded by MIT professor, big-data guru and Turing Award winner Michael Stonebreaker. Desired profile

Education and Experience
·        Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
·        Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
·        PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Knowledge and Skills
Basics: systems level coding, algorithms and data structures
Languages: C , Java, Python, SQL
Technical Areas: database internals, distributed systems, analytics
Special skills: performance, scalability and understanding the foundations of databases or integrated systems
