Unix Field Technical Support Consultant - Specialist

Job description

The Critical Watch Centre is looking for someone with Specialist HP-UX skills to join our Systems team in Kotara, NSW
 
Seeking an Engineer to deliver Critical Watch Services to our Server, Storage and Backup customers. 
 
Your key responsibilities will be:
Provide systems support to Critical Watch Centre customers from the HP office in Kotara
Own technical escalations and customer requests from the Service Desk, and work towards resolving them within the SLAs defined in the SoW
Provide all of the technical deliverables in our SoW relevant to specialisation, e.g. ensuring that batch jobs, archiving, etc are performed. Running scheduled housekeeping jobs, such as database maintenance, file clean-up, etc.
Provide SME input to the customer in strategy/planning
Provide analysis and make technical recommendations in the monthly report
Explore proactive opportunities that increase performance, availability, capacity, resiliency of the managed service and the customer environment.
Monitor the status of specific systems, job queues, etc. and providing intervention if appropriate.

Desired profile

To be successful in this role you will have:
 
5-7 years experience in a related field and Bachelors degree
A passion for Enterprise Technology
Good understanding of Unix Operating Systems on HP Hardware
Scripting Ablity (bash, perl, python)
Good troubleshooting skills across a range of technologies
Experience with Oracle and SQL databases and HP layered products such as DataProtector and Openview  is an  advantage but not mandatory
