Job description
This vacancy is for a recent graduate to join HP Enterprise Security Services’ successful Threat and Vulnerability Management Team as an entry level pen tester. The team provides Penetration Testing services to a wide range of HP accounts and external customers and due to growth in our business we are looking to expand our team. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a keen interest in this area of information security and satisfy our technical team that they have the right technical areas of expertise/interest. The successful candidate will have significant relevant knowledge, gained through education and research, and a hands-on technical attitude demonstrated by practical experience. The HP ESS team are mainly based in Milton Keynes and this role will initially be based there due to the training required to develop their skills. The successful candidate will already have or be prepared to apply for a UK security clearance. The successful candidate will be developed into a penetration tester with the expectation of achieving CHECK Team Member standard (via CREST Registered Tester or TIGER Qualified Tester) after approximately a year. Desired profile
Education and knowledge: • Penetration testing skills including the use of security assessment and hacker tools; e.g. Nessus, nmap, OpenVas, John the Ripper. • IT security knowledge. • TCP/IP networking. • Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems. • Web-based applications and services. • Development skills, preferably including one or more of C/C /C#, Python, Ruby, Perl, PHP, ASP, JSP, Java. • Familiarity with databases; e.g. MS-SQL, MySQL. • Understanding of common TCP/IP protocols; e.g. HTTP, SMTP, Telnet, FTP, SNMP. • Strong education in IT-related discipline. • Written and verbal communications skills.
