Ireland Operations
HP’s Imaging & Printing Business unit maintains a large presence in Ireland based at the Liffey Park Technology campus in Leixlip, Co Kildare. This global hub houses the business, engineering & research teams responsible for Hp’s multi-billion dollar consumer printing business. Based off the concept of Thermal Inkjet printing [TIJ] which was invented in Hp over 30 years ago, the engineering development group are tasked with creating and expanding this technology for the inkjet supplies business. This large engineering group houses the expertise and diverse skills needed to develop the current technology but also innovation for the next 30 years (Pagewide, 3D Printing). This broad mandate means there is a vast range of abilities used to create each product: from fluid dynamics, plastics molding, statistical analysis, product design & reliability right through to ink formulation, Si processing and prototype manufacturing to name a few. These skills emulate from a number of different disciplines and Thermal inkjet technology relies on a very broad range of sciences, including: Design Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Fluidics, Statistics, Optical Engineering, Firmware & Software Development, and Materials Engineering.
An internship within the engineering groups hold a number of opportunities, namely;

Placement Team & Position Details
This role will sit within the Integrated Printhead [IPH] Development Team. This group is responsible for new product development of all new IPH Supplies (ie Si integrated into the cartridge). This spans from early product design & definition through to development testing and prototyping and final transferring to ramp to high volume production at our partner sites. The intern will work within the Writing System Team who have responsibility with how the ink cartridge interfaces and performs within the new printers.
Key responsibilities
- Submit new designs through a suite of tests and assess their performance
- Analysis of performance results and experiment outcome to make recommendations
- Creation of clear, detailed reports including presentation to the other engineers and program team
- Work with all design centres to identify issues or concerns and work to improve the performance of the new prototypes
- Development of new writing system tests and experiments for the new suite of products being released in the next few years
Desired profile
Education and Experience Required:
- In the process of completing an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or Physical Science related degree and achieving at least 2:1 overall to date
- Demonstrated statistics competency including DOE
- Ability to grasp new technologies and methodologies quickly
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving capability through college course work
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Basic understanding of the concepts of product development
- Well organized with good multi–tasking capability
- Fluency in English
