Key Responsibilities
 
HP Networking Software Engineers work on new networking products and solutions. This includes contribution in product architecture, feature definition, design, development and test and on-going product support.
We are seeking top Software Engineering talent to develop HP’s networking products including switches and routers that will revolutionize the future of the networking industry.  These specialist engineers will drive the next generation of HP’s Networking products.
 
Candidates must possess a passion for delivering high quality supportable software that effectively meets customer requirements. They must also be comfortable working in a formal software development environment where rigorous focus on and adherence to quality are critical.
 
Key Responsibilities
Ø  Design and development of features in the area of L2/Bridging/L3/Routing/ IPApps/Security/Classifiers for the switch/routers.
Ø  Design and develop switch software capabilities to enable next generation HP networking platforms
Ø  Design and develop open standard based ( Ex: OpenFlow) features to enable switches and routers in the space of SDN (Software Defined Networking)
Ø  Contribute in the end to end switch product development life cycle
Ø  Generate new ideas that could potentially become product road map items

Mandatory skills
1.       3-7 years of Industrial experience
2.       Strong programming skills in C or C
3.       Experience in software development with a very good understanding of Operating System concepts. Working knowledge of OS's such as Unix, VxWorks, embedded Linux, GHS ..etc
4.       Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills.     Exposure to switch software debugging tools.
5.       Experience working in the networking domain.   This could be in any areas of either switching or routing.   This could cover experience in layer2 switching protocols like STP/MSTP, MVRP, LACP, LLDP, DT,  QinQ and layer3 routing protocols like RIP/OSPF/BGP.
 
Skills that can bring added advantage
1.       Experience working in UI areas.  
2.       Knowledge of SNMP/MIB
3.       Experience in switch software security areas
