JAVA Software Engineer Intern

Job description

DescriptionThe Hewlett-Packard Storage Utility Development Unit (UDU)  Common Automation for Storage Technologies (CAST) Team develops and maintains an Automation Framework used for comprehensive system testing of various Storage Area Network components. As a Software Engineer Intern working on the CAST team, you will work with experienced Software Developers.  Your role will be to triage test case failures to determine root cause, fix defects, assist in the development of new features, and maintain test case catalogs. You will learn the latest technologies in storage products and will also become familiar with many operating systems, and networking technologies, as well as Quality Engineering. Responsibilities·                      Performs troubleshooting tasks; provide in-depth defect characterization·                      Actively participates in developing & improving existing testing technologies·                      Responsible for developing and performing unit testing, and manual user interface testing·                      Basic working understanding of relevant technologies·                      Read and understand existing code base object model.

Desired profile

Education and ExperienceCurrently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science with at least 1 years of courses completed towards the degree plan.  At least one semester of Java programming experience is a must. Qualifications·                      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.·                      Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams utilizing people skills·                      Strong analytical and problem solving skills and ability to think creatively to solve complex problems·                      Ability to design, develop and improve software tools, processes and components to reduce overhead and improve quality of partner deliverables·                      Strong desire to learn and succeedBonusExperience using the following technologies·                      Integrated Desktop Environment such as Eclipse or Netbeans·                      Source code control·                      Extensible Markup Language (XML)·                      HyperText Markup Language (HTML)·                      Java Script·                      JUnit test development·                      Wiki maintenance
