Hewlett-Packard Laboratories (HPL) is an international research organization with its headquarter and largest facility located in Palo Alto, California. The System Laboratory at Hewlett-Packard Labs conducts both basic and applied research in nano-electronics and nano-photonics related to computing and information technology.  Lab resources include a fully equipped class 10 cleanroom, nanoimprint tools, Helium Ion Microscope, a UHV STM/AFM, NSOM, C-AFM, SEM, FTIR, Raman, XPS/AES, FIB, TEM, DSC/TGA, XRD, UV-Vis,  electrical/optical cryostats, a full optics lab, and a variety of thin film fabrication tools including ALD, Sputter, PLD, CVD, IBD etc. 
 
Job description
The System Laboratory at Hewlett-Packard Labs has an immediate opening for a postdoc position with a background in electrical engineering, computer science and engineering, materials science and engineering, applied physics. The critical task will involve the fabrication and electronic characterization of thin-film electronic devices and circuits. The candidate will be able to participate in a team environment to design and test novel devices and circuits to meet time critical deliverables.

Qualifications
 
PhD candidate in electrical engineering, computer science and engineering, materials science and engineering, applied physics or related areas.
 
Critical skills include hands-on experience with clean room processing, thin film deposition, advanced lithography, and device characterizations. The candidate will need to be able to work closely with team members to design experiments and implement the process to fabricate device for electronic measurements, including I-V, pulse test, etc. Experience with ASML stepper, nanoimprinting lithography, ebeam lithography, L-edit for mask layout, probe stations and parameter analyzer as well as programming skills in Labview will be desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required for technical reporting and problem solving.
