About Our Graduate Vacancies
Software Engineer (Graduate)
The Air Mission Planning Application (AMPA) programme has around 260 staff with over 100 software engineers on around 20 different projects / aircraft platforms. It is a programme that delivers solutions to enable fast jets, transport aircraft and helicopters to fly safely. This incorporates allowing a mission to be rehearsed and flown in software before being uploaded to the aircraft and integrating a number of map sources and imagery databases to provide much improved situational awareness in advance of flying over a target.
As a Software Engineer you will gain exposure to all aspects of the “Software Lifecycle” from Requirements Analysis through to Test & Acceptance during the 24 month graduate programme. This could be on a single project, or multiple projects within the Air Mission Planning Application (AMPA) programme.
The AMPA programme is currently based technically on a Linux operating system, and depending on the project area you are likely to use one or more of the following programming languages:
-
Java, C , C and Python.
It all begins with a two week on-boarding course where you’ll get to grips with our business and how you fit into it. You will attend workshops, work on projects and undergo professional and technical training in order to prepare you for your new role. Straight away, you'll be working with people who are experts in their field. As a valued part of the team, we’ll expect you to give your insight and opinion, and make a real contribution to our business.
Throughout this scheme, your development won’t stop. You’ll attend sessions designed to hone your skills, and you’ll have the support of your line manager, an assigned mentor and a graduate-level buddy. Through ongoing appraisals and feedback processes, you’ll drive your career.

About HP - Hewlett Packard
