Job description

The Enterprise Directory and other openLDAP directories are a critical component of HP's core infrastructure. The Enterprise Directory (ED)  is the authoritative source of information about people (employees and contingent workers), real estate data, organizations and locations. It is centralized, distributed and highly accessible repository of up-to-date general HP data. ED is based on open stardards and open source openLDAP software. There is a whole ecosystem of tools and scripts around the ED systems. This engineer will be responsible to manage and upgrade the ecosystem of tools and scripts.
The scripts include input data feeds into ED e.g. HR data from Workday and GHRMS/FieldGlass, real estate data, HP organization data, EDS legacy mainframe data etc.
The tools include Directory Works, Extranet Directory Works, Download tool and the dilbert tool. 
There are also data synchronization scripts between the openLDAP databases and other tools. 
The engineer for this position should be familiar with
- web applications including Perl programming
- unix shell scripting
- Unix and Linux Operating Systems
- openLDAP
- architect and design of complex application environments
- troubleshooting skills
Soft skills required include

- excellent team player

Desired profile

Education and Experience Required:
 
Typically a technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 4 years related experience or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
 
Knowledge and Skills Required:
 
- 3 or more years of experience writing code (such as, and not limited to, Perl, Unix shell scripting, Java, C, Perl; databases like Sql Server/ Oracle)
- 2 or more years of experience with openLDAP or other LDAP based systems
-  Understanding of modern software development methodologies e.g. agile methodology 
- Understanding of modern software development tools and Software Configuration Management (SCM) 
- Understanding of Software Test methodologies, and testing tools
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- ability to work effectively in a team
