Data Analyst - Sybase SQL (Top Secret Clearance)

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will participate in a team environment supporting a U.S. Government contract that provides personnel security management to DOD. The position involves extensive work in a UNIX environment and development of SQL queries for use with Ad Hoc Reporting and/or analysis and correction of data in a Sybase database. The candidate will need strong analytical skills, strong communication skills, and extensive experience working with Sybase or equivalent Enterprise level database.
Essential Function:
The candidate will be involved in the development of SQL queries for use in Ad Hoc Reports, analysis of data quality, and data manipulation within a Sybase database. Strong data analytical skills and experience with the ability to communicate is a must.  Solid working knowledge of UNIX commands and development and execution of UNIX shell scripts, database stored procedures, and work with relational databases and tables are needed. Must be able to work in a team environment and independently with minimum management oversight. Must be extremely attentive to detail as the successful candidate will be reporting on and modifying production data for the customer.  Must possess high energy and strong motivation to make a difference.  The work is fast paced with changing priorities. Task switching without loss of productivity is a must.

Desired profile

Pre-Requisites:
-  US Citizen
-  Current DoD Top Secret clearance (based on SSBI investigation)
-  Strong familiarity with UNIX, Shell scripting, and Perl
-  Data analysis experience – 1 years is preferred
-  Sybase SQL experience – 1 years is preferred
-  Logical database experience – 1 years is preferred; Sybase is a plus
-  Common office software skills (Word, Excel, Visio)
-  Strong motivation to make a difference
-  Understanding of application development lifecycle processes is a plus
-  Familiarity with Department of Defense personnel security issues is a plus
Location: Alexandria, VA or Herndon, VA.  Until mid-September 2015, willing to travel to Largo, MD several times/week.
