Abstract
Assists the Lab Manager in areas of design, development, configuration, integration, testing and maintaining existing and new cyber security capabilities and/or information systems solutions through integration of technical and business requirements. Applications and infrastructure solutions include both 3rd party software and internally developed capabilities and infrastructure.
- Seeking university students (who are earning a bachelor's or master's degree) to working in a technical internship role at HP during their study or in summer breaks between university semesters.
- The HPES Cybersecurity Lab is focused on developing innovative security solutions for US Public Sector clients.
- The lab has a number of leading edge technologies to pursue in the areas of Managed Security Services, integrated security suites (continuous monitoring), security intelligence from “big data”, and the next generation of secure cloud computing.
- This position requires co-location with the cyber lab facilities in Plano, TX .
- Candidates must be able to work 20 hours per week during the school year, and be willing to work 40 hours during the summer.
- We can only consider local University students as no relocation is available and we want students who are available during the school year and summer.
- We will only consider candidates with a Computer Science (or similar) technical degree.
- Interns will do lab inventory, racking and cabling activities.
- Students with experience OR knowledge of VMware or Hyper V will be given preference.
- This is a public sector position, ideally we would like those students who are clearable (US citizens) should we continue on with a full time offer after college.
Desired profile
Education and Experience Required:
- Current student earning 4 year degree in a Computer Science (or very similar) major.
- Must be able to work 20 hours a week during school year, then 40 during summer
- Lab Operations personnel are accountable for the following systems:
- Linux (RHEL, DEBIAN, SUSE, Ubuntu)
- Windows systems (Windows 7, Windows 8, including Server 2008, and Server 2012, both Core, and GUI) that support GIS infrastructure
- Linux, Windows and Application systems that support Asset Management
- Hypervisors including VMware and KVM
- Web Services including IIS and Apache
- Firewalls including pfSense
- SQL Databases including MySQL
- HP Software products like uCMDB, ArcSight, Fortify, TippingPoint
- Security Sensors like Tenable, Symantec CCS
- Specific responsibilities would include setting up and managing infrastructure, scheduling tests within the lab and assisting engineers in setting up and running lab projects.
