Job description

Here’s an opportunity for you to challenge/show off all of your technical skills everyday. We are looking for a sales engineering rock star accross EMEA (preferred location is UK). You will be challenged each day with new and diverse technical quests. This is not a position for the technical “faint of heart”. You will touch every aspect of customer and prospects’ data centers (compute, storage, networking, applications, images, monitoring, config management, etc.).

Key responsibilities:

Deliver technical presentations and demos to customers, partners, and prospects.
Whiteboard with customers and prospects on how Eucalyptus (which is part of HP now) can fit into their environment and help them create a flexible self service private cloud or hybrid cloud (with AWS).
Engage with our Sales reps in a consultative sales approach to prospects cloud computing needs/objectives.
Stand up Eucalyptus in a customers or prospects’ data center or lab environment and integrate it into pertinent partner products.
Help our prospects perform thorough Proof of Concepts of our product in their environment and assist them in drawing a conclusion as to whether we are the right fit for their objectives.
Help Sales reps commercially package the right set of services to meet the technical needs of our prospects (training, consulting, support).
Stay connected with the customers post sales to assist, in conjunction with our global Support team, in any support needs they might have.
Help our customers grow their Eucalyptus environment to meet oncoming business needs.
Provide feedback from the front lines to our Product and Engineering teams to improve our product.
Contribute scripts and/or simple programs to support open-source projects that pertain to Eucalyptus operations and management.
Install new release nightly builds, then report and track software bugs.
Participate in community and Support forums and email lists, both asking and answering questions.
Assist Marketing with development and update of sales collateral.
Occasionally, deliver paid or unpaid consulting engagements for customers.
 

Desired profile

Main characteristics to be successful:

A passion for solving business, technical, and process-related problems in an open source software context co-mingled with a spirit of innovation and inventiveness.
Self motivation to work remotely and extreme flexibility to be prepared to do anything at anytime for your company (within reason of course).
Willingness to travel extensively accross EMEA.
Requirements:

5 years of IT experience and/or IT Technical Sales experience.
Significant experience working with Amazon Web Services, as well as open-source cloud computing projects like Eucalyptus, OpenStack, CloudStack, OpenNebula, and proprietary products such as VCloud Director.
Deep Linux system administration (all variants), Virtualization (KVM, VMWare), and Datacenter operations experience. E.g. RHCE level or better.
Networking and Storage design, administration, and operations.
Data center Security and Directory Services design, administration, and operations.
Experience working with Configuration Management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc..
Knowledge of Cloud Management tools such as enStratius, Scalr, ComodIT, Rightscale, etc..
Knowledge of PaaS platforms such as Engine Yard, Cloud Foundry, Openshift, Appscale, Stackato, dotCloud, etc..
Knowledge of Hadoop platforms such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, and MapR and NoSQL platforms such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Neo4j, Riak, etc..
Knowledge of typical application environments and workloads and their use/demand on IT infrastructure.
Programming/Scripting skills in Java, Python, Ruby, etc..
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering.
