HP Global Trade (GT) is a compliance function responsible to ensure HP compliance with all Export and Import laws and regulations of the countries in which HP operates.  GT is part of the Finance function and reports into the HP Corporate Controller.  GT develops all HP policies related to Export and Import and partners with the businesses to ensure compliance with those policies.  GT also develops and provides relevant training courses to HP employees to increase their awareness and effectiveness at ensuring trade compliance.   The GT Controls function is regional in nature and is responsible for the implementation of Import and Export related policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, participation in or providing oversight for import or export regulatory audits, and for providing support and guidance to all HP businesses and functions in meeting their regulatory obligations. We participate in various projects and initiatives providing subject matter expertise in the fundamental import and export   topics in order to implement changes and systems solutions necessary to mitigate risks. In addition, our team provides oversight of trade incidents and corrective actions as well as non-routine communications with external regulatory agencies and organizations.
 
This position reports to the GT AMS Controls Manager.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Ensure compliance with complex regional and U.S. trade regulations in a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
Provide support for AMS regional Trade Controls team.
Investigate and manage non-routine customs issues
Participate in external customs audits by providing information and preparing material for auditors
Respond to issue request submitted to regional mailbox and keep all internal regulatory trackers updated.
Supports broad range of moderately complex business projects including but not limited to supply chain projects, business models etc. especially having import/export compliance impacts.
Proactively engages with business to understand their strategic direction with regards to products and services.
Proactively engages with authorities for managing regional import and export license application processes
Provide regulatory updates to GT LT
Assist in maintaining the regional control data in GTS screening system
Maintain and identify opportunities for enhancing current business processes.
Analyze data and/or conduct interviews to identify potential compliance gaps/issues
Available for occasional meetings with colleagues in other regions/time zones
Coordinates, develops, and manages Regional Internal Control Program
Supports GT internal compliance assurance plans and investigations.
Participate in complex projects by adding creative insights and developing recommendations, supporting UAT testing and internal audits.
Assist in providing information in response to inquiries/audits from government agencies.
Provide performance metrics on a regular basis, on incident reports, licenses and escalations.
Identifying opportunities for improvement actions and targets for future assessment.
Provide consultation to individual businesses or functional areas within HP on specific topics related to import and export compliance and operational processes.
Recognized internally and externally for having solid level of technical knowledge.
Capable of leading interactions with other GT teams, other functional areas or business units.
Training:  Provide input to training materials, identify training needs and provide trainings
 

Desired profile

 
Education and Experience Required 
 
First level university degree or equivalent experience and/or 3 years of experience in an import/export global trade function, preferably with a large multi-national corporation or import/export service provider
Broker’s license or other certification is a plus
Audit/assessment & Project management experience is a plus.
 
 
Knowledge and Skills Required 
Strong understanding of import and export topics
Strong understanding of supply chain processes
Ability to use analytical tools, models and methods
Strong communication and influencing skills; mastery in English and local language (written and verbal)
Strong internal and external relationship management skills
Strong knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
Business acumen and technical knowledge within area of responsibility
Basic understanding of national and international trade requirements to align customs/trade function with business objectives
Team player who is willing to take on a variety of tasks
Time management skills to enable efficient completion of multiple tasks/assignments
Recognize high priority issues and escalate accordingly
