Job description

The Wildlife Ambassador is responsible for the daily care, well-being, and enrichment of animal ambassadors, as well as engaging with guests through education and interactions. This role requires a passion for animals, attention to detail, and the ability to provide safe and memorable experiences while supporting conservation efforts.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

·  Demonstrate knowledge of each animal ambassador species, including animal care and management, natural history, and conservation efforts.
·  Prepare and provide animal diets daily, ensuring compliance with feeding requirements, schedules, and procedures. Maintain food orders, preparation areas, and equipment, as well as inventory of diets, enrichment items, and supplements.
·  Maintain accurate records of animal behavior, diet intake, enrichment, medical treatments, and other observations.
·  Clean and maintain habitats, ensuring disinfecting schedules are followed and all systems function properly.
·  Administer treatments to sick or injured animals as directed by a veterinarian/consultant and assist with veterinary procedures.
·  Observe and monitor animal behavior and health.
·  Safely capture and restrain animals when necessary for care or treatment.
·  Design, organize, and manage enrichment activities to promote natural behaviors.
·  Support training techniques that encourage positive animal behaviors during guest interactions, care routines, and medical procedures.
·  Provide engaging guest interactions in both formal and informal educational settings, including scheduled bird interactions.
·  Maintain and repair animal habitats, including housing, perching, and shade structures.
·  Identify and report maintenance or repair needs to ensure the safety of both animals and guests.
·  Work collaboratively with other departments, including Engineering and Guest Experience, to support the wildlife ambassador program and its mission.

The Wildlife Ambassador role is structured as an 8-hour daily shift to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.

 

Extended hours may occasionally be required due to emergencies, maintenance, guest events, or scheduled visits from consultants and/or veterinarians.

 

As guest experiences evolve, schedules may be adjusted and discussed with management.

 

The Wildlife Ambassador will be provided with proper tools, designated work areas, and daily access to a computer to record, research, and communicate effectively.

 

Support inspection of public areas when assigned.

 

Participate in special projects (VIP arrivals, brand audits, seasonal tasks).

 

Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to ensure smooth operations.
