Job description

A Laundry Attendant cum Tailor is responsible for supporting laundry operations and providing pressing, sewing, and similar services to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience.

What will I be doing?

 

As a Laundry Attendant cum Tailor, you are responsible for supporting laundry operations and providing pressing, sewing, and other similar services to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. A Laundry Attendant cum Tailor will also be required to manage and respond to guest requests. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

 

·  Ensure to have a good understanding and comply with all of the Resort’s emergency procedures, Resort security procedures, fire regulations and all health and safety legislations.
·  Ensure to have a knowledge about the Resort services and facilities.
·  Ensure up to knowledge and understanding of the department’s procedures and standards.
·  Ensure Resort equipment, tools, keys and supplies are handled properly, kept in good working condition, regularly inspected, following instructions as directed.
·  Report hazard issues, follow up and communicate deficiencies to direct manager.
·  Ensure the standards of cleanliness and proper organization of all working areas.
·  Maintain a high standard of hygiene and sanitation throughout all working areas.
·  Efficiently handle guest complaints.
·  Ensure an exceptional level of customer service at all times by providing personal assistance to guests with a professional, pleasant and positive manner.
·  Maintain Hilton grooming standards including uniform dress code, cleanliness and personal hygiene.
·  Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships.
·  Attend trainings and meetings when required.
·  Assist guests with all enquiries and complaints, and provide accurate information to guests about the Resort facilities and features.
·  Able to drive different types of buggies and adhere to the procedures.
·  Be environmentally aware.
·  Ensure thorough knowledge of all chemicals and MSDS (material safety data sheet).
·  Ability to deal professionally, courteously and tactfully with the guests, third parties and with coworkers.
·  Report “Lost & Found” items, and handle according to the standard operating procedures.
·  Understand and strictly adhere to the policies and procedures established in the Team Member Handbook.
·  The Resort requires that you perform any task deemed necessary by the General Manager/ Director of Operations/ Resort Management for the efficient running of the Housekeeping Department specifically and the Resort in general.
·  Take pro-active action towards protecting the Resort environment.
·  Be proactive and observant in service to pre-exempt guest / team member needs.
·  Attend daily housekeeping morning and evening briefings, before commencing the shift.
·  Ensure wastage of supplies and energy is kept to a minimum.
·  Ensure to carry out any additional tasks / duties assigned by the Laundry Manager / Assistant Executive Housekeeper or the Executive Housekeeper.
·  Report maintenance deficiencies, if required for repair.
·  Assist Laundry Manager to count monthly discards for all the linen, if required. 
·  Ensure to take receipt of stock and proper organization of related documents.
·  Perform timely repairs on all items of uniforms, linen and upholstery.
·  Make new uniforms, items of linen and upholstery as per Resort specifications.
·  To be responsible for all the completion of all guest tailoring requests.
·  Ensure that all linen and uniforms are repaired before issuing them to Team Members.
·  Measure, make or alter uniforms for new Team Members.
·  Communicate with Executive Housekeeper or Laundry Manager for replenishing sewing supplies. 
·  Convert discarded linen into usable items for re-circulation.
·  Organize and take inventory of all fabric materials.
·  Ensure to open the uniform room on time according to the Resort uniform room opening hours.
·  Ensure to issue and receive uniforms of all team members.
·  Ensure to hang the uniforms, department wise on conveyer in number order.
·  Ensure to have knowledge about laundry operations and procedures.
·  Ensure to maintain the guest laundry standards.
·  Maintain the quality of HOD personal laundries.
·  Report maintenance deficiencies, if required for repair.
·  Be proactive and observant in service to identify team members’ needs before being asked.
·  Maintain good relationship with your colleagues, supervisors and other departments.
·  Ensure linen is available for all departments as requested.  
·  Ensure quality controls are in place for all linen processes, rejecting any exceptions.
·  Assist the Laundry Manager to carrying out monthly inventory counts as required. 
·  Assist the Laundry Manager to count monthly discards for all the linen.
·  Maintain laundry production for the machines and linens.
·  Ensure to maintain the par stock level.
·  Ensure to take receipt of stock and safely storage.
·  Oversee the issuing of linen via a requisition system (SOP).
·  Sort out all soiled (colored or white) linen, weigh and load into appropriate carts.
·  Load and unload washers and dryers, operate machines and record poundage amounts, including amounts washed and dried.
·  Fold towels either by hand or towel folder, iron table linen, iron and fold sheets, hand fold pillow cases, blankets, bed pads, draw sheets, etc.
·  All the fresh linen and ironed bed sheet placed in linen room shelves.
·  All the ironed uniforms to be handed over to tailor to be hung on the uniform conveyer.
·  Ensure to open the uniform room on time according to the Resort uniform room opening hours.
·  Ensure to issue and receive uniforms to / from all team members.
·  Sort out all the internal uniforms and linens (colored uniform, white uniform, chef’s uniform, bed linen, terry linen etc.) handed over to laundry for washing.
·  Ensure to check all the pockets properly while receiving the uniforms.
·  Sort and separate damaged or stained linen, i.e., to be repaired or used as rags after counted as discard.
·  Cleans lint traps from dryers daily. Check and clean drains as necessary.
·  Maintain appropriate records (linen stocks, repairs, etc.) in accordance with occupancy and legal requirements.
