Job description

The Fitness Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional fitness support to guests and members by delivering safe, effective, and engaging exercise guidance. This role focuses on client assessments, program development, instruction, motivation, and ensuring a clean and safe exercise environment.   

Key Responsibilities / Main Duties  

· 
Conduct fitness assessments to understand clients’ goals, physical condition, and any health considerations. 

· 
Develop and implement individualized workout programs, including strength training, cardio, flexibility, and general conditioning. 

· 
Track client progress and adjust programs to support continuous improvement and goal achievement. 

· 
Teach proper use of gym equipment and correct exercise techniques, ensuring safety and effective form. 

· 
Provide hands-on guidance such as assisted stretching, warm‑ups, cooldowns, and general exercise instruction. 

· 
Deliver ongoing motivation, encouragement, and support to help clients stay committed to their fitness journey. 

· 
Offer high-quality customer service by addressing members’ questions, concerns, and fitness-related needs promptly. 

· 
Lead group classes, demonstrating movements clearly and ensuring participants maintain proper form. 

· 
Conduct Fitness Centre orientations and inductions to help members understand equipment use and safety guidelines. 

· 
Perform facility tours for guests and promote fitness programs, services, and membership benefits when relevant. 

· 
Maintain a safe fitness environment by ensuring equipment is used properly and reporting any issues promptly. 

· 
Conduct basic safety checks and support general cleanliness and housekeeping of fitness areas. 

· 
Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines and gym rules. 

· 
Act as a first responder during emergencies, following proper incident reporting procedures. 

· 
Assist in coordinating fitness classes, personal training schedules, and wellness activities. 

· 
Provide input for new fitness programs and services that enhance member experience. 

· 
Help maintain attendance logs, safety checklists, and other fitness‑related documentation. 

· 
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned. Management reserves the right to update job description at its discretion and without prior notice.

Respectful of the time of the organization as well as that of other Team Members. Puts a high value in promptness for any related work attendance matters, be it training, meetings or daily work.

Ensures the punctuality and appearance of all Team Members, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department’s grooming standards.

Supports the development of Team Members and prepares and monitors the Department Learning and Development calendar of activities. 

· 
Ensures timely update for the Job Skills Checklist of All Department Team Members 

· 
Encourages Team Members to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognizing them for their contribution to the success of the operation. 

 

 

Financial 

 

· 
Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including the timely and accurate reporting of financial information. 

· 
Keep oneself informed and updated of the Hotel’s financial goals  

· 
Focuses attention in improving productivity levels and prudently manage the energy efficiency of all equipment.  

· 
Ensures new technology and equipment are embraced, improving productivity while taking work out of the system. 

Confidentiality 

· 
Ensures that the confidentiality of all Team Member information and benefits packages must be strongly adhered to. 

Operational 

· 
Monitors and maintains the proper appearance of the office area. 

· 
Ensures that the Waldorf Astoria Brand Service Standards is fully implemented and adhered to  

· 
Participates in and supports Waldorf Astoria Ambassador Network initiatives for Team Members and participates in the Waldorf Astoria Ambassador Network Committee Meetings (as necessary) 

· 
Coordinates and assists in team activities and promotes a “can-do” attitude 

· 
Sets an example for a high standard of personal hygiene and luxury grooming 

· 
Attends training sessions and meetings as when required. 

· 
Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

A Fitness Instructor serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

· 
Hold National Personal Training Institute (NPTI), FISAF International – Certified Personal Trainer (Malaysia) or ISSA (International Sports Science Association) or internationally recognized related certifications

·  Good command of the English language
·  High level of personal hygiene and grooming standards

·  Good communication skills
·  Committed to delivering a high level of customer service
·  Passion for health and fitness
