Job description

A Door Man represents the hotel at the main entrance by greeting arriving and departing guests in an enthusiastic and courteous manner. Directs traffic at the main entrances to ensure the porte cochere is accessible at all times and offer luggage assistance to all guests. 

 

What will I be doing?

As a Door Man, you serve as a key connection point between Guests and the hotel as well as other hotel departments. A Door Man with the hotel property influences the Guest's first impression, and therefore, must ensure to always offer a professional and welcoming disposition. Specifically, the Door Man will perform the following tasks at the highest level of service:

  • Answers the entrance telephone and provides clear, accurate information to guests and team members
  • Welcome guests on arrival and assist with their luggage
  • Maintains an alert and attentive demeanor at all times in addition to remaining calm during periods of heavy business volumes. 
  • Park Guests' cars on the hotel premises, as required
  • Provide a driving service to Guests, as required
  • Advises housekeeping as necessary to maintain a clean, orderly appearance of the main hotel entrance. 
  • Keep up to date on all hotel services as well as VIPs and special events
  • Be knowledgeable on external locations, attractions, and landmarks in the vicinity
  • Clearly communicates guest parking procedures and applicable costs to arriving guests.

A Door Man serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally in English.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger.
  • Ability to read English to ascertain information from luggage tags and claim checks; to write numbers and names on claim checks and rooming lists. 
  • Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions. 
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in both hands to be able to load and unload luggage. 
  • A good knowledge of the area and the country in general, preferred
  • Considerable knowledge and ability to communicate clear directions to nearby local attractions and hotel facilities and services.
