Across the UK we employ 1,400 people with over 30 different nationalities and we’re currently looking for a Fleet Manager to join our team at Gatwick Airport.

What is this role all about?

The Fleet and Facilities Manager is responsible for the day to day fleet operations at the London Gatwick Airport location. This is a very demanding and high profile position. The main purpose is to plan and use the fleet efficiently, and according to Hertz procedures and standards. This incorporates Instant Return, Car Control, Damage, Debowsing, Defleet and liaison with internal departments and outside operators and suppliers, this includes all aspects of Hertz Gatwick facility management, driving continuous improvement in car park and car flow movement, fleet maintenance (O/C cars actioned and returned to fleet), and complete control of all fleet movements. Ariba requisitions are actioned in a timely manner.

Primary Duties and Responsonsibilities

Fleet Planning

Oversee the co-ordination of fleet support and reporting. Accountable for ensuring fleet volume and mix is available to meet business requirements on a daily and weekly basis. Attend daily huddles/meetings to ensure and communicate that volume and mix meet operational requirements. Managing the liaison with Logistics to ensure fleet numbers are agreed and any necessary action taken to meet day to day requirements. Prepare and communicate fleet plan by 0900hrs daily and ad hoc as required. Oversee the interaction between and within each team regarding fleet utilization to ensure appropriate targets and objectives are executed in a timely cost effective manner.

Fleet team and Control, Damage and Debowse

Identify, improve and innovate processes within Fleet and Instant Return and Duty Managers, Damage and Debowsing. Ensure Fleet team and IR are fully briefed on blocking criteria, are adequately staffed and meet N.W.E targets. Drive iIcheck % penetration. Make sure Debowsing targets are achieved and communicated on a timely basis, with 100% defleet vehicles debowsed prior to offsite movements. To make sure Car Cleanliness quality is maintained and the NPS V & C score is above BP. Defleet targets are agreed with logistics and actioned in a timely manner. Adequate supply and mix of cars at the right time to meet customer expectations at all times.

Facility Management

Liaise with internal and external suppliers to ensure all aspects of the facility issues are reported and actioned in a timely manner. All health and safety aspects of the location are met and any immediate action is undertaken and communicated. Complete risk assessments and carry out quarterly checks in a timely manner, Fire Training is organised and completed as scheduled and the Business Resumption and Incident management Plans are amended when required. Manage ancillary vendor relationships to ensure that Gatwick location complies with Hertz standards and expectations at all times.

People and Relationship Management

Develop and manage vendor relationships with outsource operations and all suppliers. Take responsibility and quality control of car preparation, by agreeing set objectives and carrying out full quality audits and quick quality audits to measure effectiveness. Check and approve weekly car cleaning costs and communicate as necessary. Liaise with maintenance department and tyre and windscreen suppliers to ensure optimum turnaround of fleet, while managing costs.
Develop staff to realise their full commercial and personal potential in a spirit of openness and innovation. Set objectives and embrace performance management of all direct reports via PMED system. Oversee all aspects of Hertz Accident Services (LGW80) to ensure they are compliant with Hertz classic standards and Audit processes

Compliance

Ensure team, suppliers and outsource operators have up to date and relevant fleet information e.g. blocking criteria, fleet plan, debowse targets and results, N.W.E targets and results.
Ensure that all areas of compliance, internal Hertz procedures, environmental and health and safety standards are enforced.

Essential Requirements:

What do we need from you?

·  Proven track record with 2 years’ experience of Fleet or Operations Management in a similar industry is necessary.
·  Proven track record in a management role
·  Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets is essential
·  Experience in Lean/Sigma or other relevant improvement process initiatives is preferred.
·  Basic knowledge of health and safety procedure
·  Solid working knowledge of best practices and fleet planning.
·  Understanding of HIP and Lean techniques.
·  Hands on attitude
·  Basic financial and business acumen, knowledge of fleet
·  Proven communication skills; written and verbal
·  Ability to plan and prioritise with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
·  Ability to build successful teams through coaching and development
·  Ability to analyse data and interpret 
·  Ability to work on own initiative and thrive on responsibility
