What we offer

This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Safety, Health & Environment and provides day-to-day guidance for all safety, health and environmental programs and processes, specifically, provide EH&S support for the development and deployment of applicable environmental and safety compliance programs. This role maintains involvement with a variety of projects requiring EH&S evaluations and direction; maintaining ownership for specified EH&S programs.

1. Ensures compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, EPA, NYSDEC, and other applicable regulatory agencies as requested or directed.
2. Contributes to the overall implementation and deployment of EH&S management
systems.
3. Provides direction for various levels including management, engineering, contractors, and operations to maintain environmental and safety compliance.
4. Facilitates and promotes compliance strategies and requirements.
5. Provides assistance and guidance in safety, health and environmental matters throughout the facility by deploying programs to meet regulatory requirements.
6. Maintains compliance with laws, policies, codes and regulations.
7. Works to ensure that the facility remains current in all external reporting requirements to corporate, state, local and federal agencies.
8. Works with tenant groups on hazard identification, evaluation and control and appropriate risk assessment and risk mitigation.
9. Facilitates the development and maintenance of facility emergency response plans.
10. Conducts frequent EH&S risk assessments and prioritizes and takes action on findings.
11. Recommends changes to procedures or new procedures as needed which affect
environmental and safety compliance programs.
12. Multiple projects and facility operations change daily. Interacts on a daily basis with
employees to ensure compliance with EH&S requirements.
13. May coordinate training for personnel who need environmental and safety compliance training.
14. May serve as the facilitator of various EHS committees, and ensures that committee
members are authentically engaged in overall EHS management of the facility.

Qualifications :

Who we are looking for

Required Education: * B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or other Physical Sciences

Required Years and Area of Experience:
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in EH&S activities/responsibilities
Required Skills:
* Working knowledge of environmental and safety regulatory programs.
* Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory compliance requirements to all levels
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Ability to independently perform work
* Knowledge and experience in State (preferably NYS DEC) and Federal OSHA and
environmental agency requirements
* Self directed and demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks
* Routine problem solving and troubleshooting skills
* Practical understanding of hazardous waste management

Desired Skills:
* Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC approach
* EPA Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Materials Trained/Certified CPS or equivalent
*Experience with on-site waste water treatment operations
*Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment

The performance of this position normally requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas where under certain conditions the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, and hygienic precautions, such as hairnets, are required. The work environment is not climate controlled. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud. Regular attendance is required. Working extended hours may be required.
The position could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting throughout the day. Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed
