As a proactive, industry innovator, we are currently seeking a Data Analyst to join our multi-award winning team at our head office (only 50 mins from Brighton and 60 from Tunbridge Wells) based on the South Coast in Bexhill-On-Sea, on a 12 month fixed term contract. PURPOSE

To identify new methods or techniques to determine if there are better approaches or improvements in the some of our key variables or rating indexes. To identify new areas of data (internal or external) that can further enrich our technical models or rating indexes

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Extract data out a variety of core systems, quote, policy and claims
  • Use tools to understand the data better (improve its richness) at a potentially more granular level for both structured and unstructured data.
  • Identify potential external data that could be used to improve understanding of risk
  • Develop and improve risk measures, MI and existing analytical techniques
  • Work closely with the UW pricing team to understand the relationship between new external datasets and our key underwriting performance indicators, calculating added value for group to support business case
  • Produce analysis/MI comparing predicted claims costs from GLM's against both observed

SKILLS

  • Ability to identify potential risk & trends from information presented
  • Ability to use analyse large datasets effectively
  • Confident decision maker and willingness to take responsibility
  • Effective and confident communications in both individual and group situations
  • Ability to communicate technical information in clear and concise manner to non-technical colleagues
  • Awareness and understanding of company procedures, such as DPA


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Use of advanced statistical techniques to interrogate data
  • Familiarity with Statistical conventions and terminology
  • Experience in analytical tools such as 'R'
  • Experience in use of statistical analysis software such as Radar, SQL, SAS, or SPSS as well as MS office applications like MS Excel & Access


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant science, maths or data related degree
  • Completion or working towards MSC or PHD relevant to the role
