Teacher/Lead Practitioner of Mathematics
Graduate job London (Greater London)
Job description
Battersea Park School converted to Harris Academy Battersea in September 2014. We are on an exciting journey from a school in Special Measures all the way to Outstanding, with core values of Head, Heart and Heroism reflected in our ethos throughout the Academy. We have set ourselves an ambitious but achievable target of two years to achieve outstanding status.
In response to increasing student numbers, Harris Academy Battersea is seeking outstanding, passionate and highly motivated Maths Teachers to join our Mathematics department. The initial appointment will either be on the main-scale as a teacher or on the leadership-scale as a lead-practitioner depending on experience.
We have a truly outstanding group of students who, in our opening year, have been led by an inspirational group of teachers. On the back of an incredible effort, the school is now the highest achieving state school at Post-16 in Wandsworth and our GCSE results place us as one of the most improved schools in the country. Equally, our most recent Progress 8 score of +0.84 reflects the exceptional dedication with which everyone in the academy has applied themselves.
The very best teachers are those people who drive their classes forward with an unwavering care of their students and a relentless pursuit of success. It is our aim to make sure that teachers are as well supported as they can be in this endeavour; we have a zero tolerance approach to anything that interrupts the learning in your classroom and our central team that deals with both behaviour and homework detentions does so to make sure that our teachers are as free as possible to do the three things that matter most: mark, plan and teach.
Any position in education is inevitably laden with values and ideals and we are a school built on a shared ownership of these. We wish to give our students the very best start that we can in life and, through hard work and determination, the words of our values and ideals take shape as something recognisable in the futures that we help build.
Harris Academy Battersea is part of the Harris Federation, a leading group of 37 primary and secondary Academies. This enables us to offer you a comprehensive induction programme and training and development opportunities to support your career development.
