Job description

Role: Museum Events Intern
Status: Voluntary four month internship, 2 days a week, unpaid.
Reporting to: Front of House Manager and Commercial & Marketing Manager
Hours: 14 hours per week (including 1 hour lunch break), Monday-Saturday (flexible)

This internship will be based within the staff team at Handel & Hendrix in London; a historic house comprising the former home of Georg Frideric Handel at 25 Brook Street, and the neighbouring flat in which Jimi Hendrix lived at 23 Brook Street. The successful candidate will be an individual with an interest in how a small historic house operates, with an emphasis on events and day-to-day Front of House management. This internship will cover a wide array of museum tasks, ranging from customer service and daily operations to marketing and events support.
Please note that this internship is voluntary and thus unpaid. Handel & Hendrix in London offer travel reimbursement within London up to £6 per day.
Responsibilities Include:
• Invigilating the historic rooms of 25 and 23 Brook Street
• Manning the reception box office and gift shop till, using Spektrix and EPOS till systems
• Assisting Front of House staff with administrative tasks
• Supporting the set-up, de-rig and administration of events
• Collating and recording events feedback
• Maintaining stocks of all current leaflets and brochures around the museum
• Sourcing original photo content for our social media channels
• Daily research of news stories relevant to us
• Assisting other members of staff with office tasks when required

• Proactive attitude to personal development
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines
• Able to work individually and in a team
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Computer skills

Desirable
• Knowledge or appreciation of music and the arts
• Keen interest in history and heritage
• A degree, or working towards a degree, in relevant field
• Experience in customer service

Terms and Conditions
• This internship is voluntary and unpaid. Handel & Hendrix in London offer travel reimbursement within London up to £6 per day
• Applicants must be over the age of 18
• Applicants must be able to commit to the full four month internship from mid-August 2019 (date TBC)
• The internship will consist of 14 hours per week over two days. The days of work per week will be discussed and agreed with your line managers
