Details:
This job is responsible for the daily coordination of safe, compliant, reliable utility system performance both in GMP and Non GMP 24/7 production environments. The incumbent represents the department on cross functional teams, drives and measures efficiency through utilization of maintenance system tools, techniques and training, troubleshoots & resolves equipment problems and serves as an integral technical support member of the Utilities team.

This role has a complete understanding of start-up, shut down, repairs, and return to service activities inclusive of GMP & EHS compliance requirements. The role authors and executes various documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, Preventative Maintenance Plans, Work Orders, Change Controls, Corrective Action / Preventative Action plans, Key Performance Indicators, etc.

Responsibilities:
• Support department focus on safety through various EHS initiatives and programs, process safety management, audits, LOTO, Permit to Work, GEMBAs, etc.

• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and review completion of daily WO's, PM's, check sheets and projects for a wide range of plant equipment, which includes boilers, elevators, diesel generators, fire systems, Water for Injection Stills, RO Systems, clean steam generators, compressed air and other infrastructure equipment.

• Execute projects and an effective overall operations & maintenance program utilizing a combination outsourced (IFM) and in-sourced labor model. Act as key contact for department's contractor and supplier management activities.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational maintenance efficiencies. Serve as department primary point of contact for capital projects. Insure turnover, spare parts and training meet agreed deliverables.

• Optimize critical equipment spare parts inventory. Support department technicians, determine gaps, execute inventory creation forms, and source spare parts by partnering with procurement & inventory controls specialist. Implement agreed changes.

• Drive excellence through reliability maintenance continuous improvement. Lead teams in review of equipment performance. Determine proper tasks and appropriate PM frequency per OEM guidance and Computer Maintenance Management System trend data. Measure outcome through agreed Key Performance Indicators.

• Coordinate employee work schedules & change requests while ensuring proper shift coverage. Prioritize department maintenance workload to align with schedule changes and resources.

• Work independently with minimal supervision to perform normal processes and procedures. Represent functional area at related site meetings. Leverage good leadership skills to build & maintain effective working relationships within the department and cross functionally.

Required Skills:
• Experience in a regulated environment such as food, beverage, manufacturing, or research facility.
• Demonstrated familiarity and compliance with cGMP's, EHS procedures and regulations, facility regulatory guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
• Basic fundamental understanding of various utilities systems such as: domestic water, water softeners, compressed air, boilers, condensate/steam systems, HVAC Systems, chillers, cooling towers, and electrical systems.
• Basic + computer skills required (Microsoft outlook, word, excel)
• Previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Work Order System (CMMS).
• Demonstrated ability to perform all job duties with limited supervision. Ability to cross-train in multiple disciplines.
• Ability to follow written procedures and document results in a neat and precise manner.
• Must be able to correctly read and understand electrical wiring diagrams, electronic schematics, and blue prints/process drawings.
• Operate motor vehicles; current valid driver's license required.
• This is a 24/7 operation, this individual may need to provide coverage 24/7 to include holidays, and weekends; over-time may be required.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience in a GMP regulated environment such as pharmaceuticals, biologicals, or research facility.
• CMMS optimization including planning, scheduling, BOMs, KPIs, and asset management. SAP preferred
• Sufficient technical/mechanical knowledge to operate equipment and identify problems to keep equipment running during off shifts. Systems such as: clean steam boilers, purified water systems, clean/steam in place systems, autoclaves.
• Valid boiler operator license preferred. Must be obtained within 2 years from date of hire.
• Basic + computer skills preferred (Microsoft outlook, excel, power point, project, access, CAD, etc.).
• Troubleshoot and take proactive approach to minimize deficiencies breakdowns and interruptions to plant operations.

Desired profile

Basic qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent field.
• three years of related work experience in at least one of the following areas: boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, plumbing, fire systems, and engineering OR one year of utilities experience and experience in direct pharmaceutical industry.

Preferred qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in related engineering field.
2+ years of facility maintenance with focus in GMP utility operations related work experience across multiple areas (e.g. boilers, water softeners, WFI, Clean Steam, PW, RO, Process Air/Nitrogen, etc.).
• 3 years of proven and demonstrated leadership (technical and team based within the operating department.)
