The Utilities Shift Leading Hand (Electrical) is a shift-based role coordinating Utilities Operations on a 24/7 basis to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant supply of all Utilities services for the GSK Irvine site. The role also entails production support via electrical breakdown/fault finding when required.

In this role you will…

·  Ensure that all GSK Irvine site services (Steam, Air, Water, Cooling and Nitrogen) are supplied as required, to enable and support GSK Irvine production output targets within agreed specifications. This includes the monitoring through pre-determined daily checks and tests of systems which are recorded in department logbooks.
·  Provide silent hours short-term electrical breakdown and maintenance response and escalation for all trades/engineering support as required.  The use of SAP is required to ensure traceability/compliance of all of the above.
·  Appointed as a Competent Boiler Operator to carry out the duties for the daily safe operation of the boiler and steam system including carrying out functional tests of limiters and maintain a daily plant logbook.
·  Control and manage PTW issuance and safe working on a 24-hour basis for Utilities and any other areas agreed in advance. Prepare and co-ordinate equipment isolations and outages for maintenance/service works.  
·  As a Permit to Work Acceptor and experienced Electrical Tradesperson, carry out minor maintenance repairs/adjustments to Utilities plant and equipment as required in a safe and compliant manner adhering to all site and legislative safe working procedures.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

·  A recognized apprenticeship in an electrical discipline
·  HNC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical discipline
·  Several years’ experience as Electrical Tradesperson
·  Experience in electrical fault finding/problem solving/repairs.
·  Demonstrated evidence of working with a small team in a high-pressured environment where decision-making and problem ownership are crucial.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

·  Plant operations experience, familiarity with boilers and Utilities services would be of benefit or the capability of being trained in such
·  An enthusiastic and energetic style with well-developed communication skills, natural ownership, influencing skills and a responsible approach are pre-requisites for this role
·  Ability to take day to day operational decisions (site production requirements, maintenance, compliance and EHS) and apply them
·  The role requires flexibility to cover team member holidays, sickness, or extra working for business needs
·  Knowledge of regulations (e.g. Electricity at Work) and current CompEX certification would be of benefit
