Dedicated to the production of Oral Healthcare brands such as Aquafresh, Sensodyne & Macleans, we produce in excess of 400,000,000 tubes of toothpaste and 18 million bottles of Mouthwash per year for consumers across Europe and the Middle East.

Job Purpose
The role ensures compliance with GSK and Regulatory requirements for the management of lifting equipment, pressure systems, water systems and asbestos on site.

This role also oversees the contractors responsible for management of the Facilities, Catering, Cleaning, Site Security and Site Building Services.

In addition to maintenance of GMP and EHS standards the role will develop and implement plans for continuous facility improvement projects to reduce risk and improve GMP standards.

To act as Technical Authority for the site steam raising boiler / steam system operation.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance
• Responsible for the management of the LOLER written scheme of examination.
• Responsible for the management of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations written scheme of examination.
• Responsible for steam boiler operation and steam system distribution up to point of use.
• Responsible for condensate return systems.
• The facilities manager / Technical Authority formally review the process for managing defect remediation following defects that have been identified during the completion of the Written Scheme of Examination.
• Responsible for the management and assurance of full compliance with asbestos and Legionella Regulations
• Work with EHS and be Process safety champion for site
• Review the Written Scheme of Examination for Pressure Systems and LOLER on a yearly basis.
• Keep up to date with regulations and standards, both internal and regulatory, which are relevant to the work of the Site engineering department
• Recommend, develop and manage capital and revenue projects to improve the effectiveness, EHS and GMP of the Maidenhead site.
• To complete regular tours of the site to monitor the Maidenhead facilities through Level 1.
• To ensure that GMP, Quality, Health & Safety processes are adhered to in all aspects of role.

Contract Management
• Manage Sodexo Site Catering & Cleaning and support Sodexo Hard Services contract.
• Support Utilities manager to refine EFM contract
• Hold a forum with site contractors that focuses on Safety and Compliance at least twice per year
• Perform contractor competency reviews on an annual basis

Strategy Deployment
• Demonstrate leadership by exhibiting GSK's values and GPS way of working with the GSK Expectations framework.
• To ensure the department is effectively aligned with its customers to support site targets.
• Lead and motivate staff to achieve individual and Company objectives, encourage an internal and external focus and work towards cross functional work groups.

Facilities Management
• Develop and implement maintenance strategy for Utilities and ensure all activities are aligned to improve performance.
• Accountable for maintenance performed by GSK utilities department, manage maintenance schedule and timely completion of tasks
• Manage day-to-day maintenance and installation work, liaising with contractors and the factory operations teams to minimise interference with production.
• Project manage or support engineering projects as required and advise on equipment standards.
• Manage maintenance expenditure budget, working closely with Procurement and liaising with the Finance department.

Contracts Management
• Utilities Engineer is responsible for the following site contracts:
• Sodexo Enterprise Facilities Management (EFM) (Cleaning and Catering) & advising on hard services

Desired profile

Basic qualifications:
• Qualified to minimum HNC level within a relevant Engineering subject
• Experience of driving and maintaining compliance to appropriate regulatory standards
• Engineering management experience, preferably in maintenance or utilities

Preferred qualifications:
• Knowledge of LOLER/RSSR/Asbestos/Legionella regulations
• BOAS Diploma in Boiler Operational Management (training can be provided)
