WHAT WILL YOUR JOB PURPOSE BE?
• Responsible for delivery of the end to end Management Accounting processes across the SMAS manufacturing Sites
• Aligning to a GMS Site for the purposes of reviewing results, preparing GMS Dashboard and liaising with Site teams on Budget and Standard Costing exercises
• To build strong working relationships with customer groups and stakeholders and drive continuous process and service improvement
• Ensuring that process activities are carried out in a robust and efficient manner and delivered accurately to SMAS Customer groups to agreed timelines
• Drive for excellence in SMAS processes and contributing widely to a high performance culture within the team.
• To support additional processes across the SMAS scope as required

WHAT WILL YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES BE?
• Primarily responsible for the delivery of SMAS processes in line with agreed process and Service Level Agreements.
• Ensure that the sites' actual performance is accounted for and reported in an accurate and timely fashion for the assigned processes within the cluster
• Align and partner with Site Finance to review results, coordinate planning activities and ensure full compliance with GSK and accounting policies
• Responsibility for liaison with customer sites and stakeholders concerning assigned processes to build strong relationships, review performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• To manage own time appropriately to ensure assigned cluster processes are performed and deliver in line with agreed timelines, and according to standard work approach
• To seek development and improvement, to deliver a level of expertise in assigned process to the benefit of SMAS group and site customers.
• To actively support the SMAS culture of continuous improvement within the cluster and across the SMAS, driving for standardisation and improved performance.
• Support and delivery of additional management accounting processes assigned within SMAS as required.
• To operate according to agreed SMAS processes and in compliance with GSK policies and procedures.
Accountability:
• Accountable for output and performance of assigned processes within SMAS scope.
• Accountable to SMAS Team Lead, and actively contributing to cross SMAS activities as appropriate.
• Creation and delivery of personal objectives, in line with SMAS objectives, following GMS Finance cascade.
• Understand fully all processes assigned within the cluster and ensure that these processes operate appropriately with respect to internal controls, internal and external financial guidance and regulations
• Actively seek to understand and identify areas requiring process improvement through reference to internal and external parties, and work with OE input, and then drive through and deliver on continuous improvement in assigned processes.
• Embed Operational Excellence philosophy, tools and techniques as normal way of working in own area of responsibility

Business Challenges
• Work independently within scope of position. Guidance on new assignments/duties is directional, relying on individual work / technical experience to complete tasks accurately and effectively.
• Understanding of issues and business at sites in scope of SMAS group, as relates to assigned processes within cluster – ability to engage effectively with site management.
• Engage people outside SMAS to accomplish tasks, including embedded business partners, site management, GMS and Corp finance.
• Drive to process understanding excellence of assigned processes within cluster.
• Participate in and deliver process improvement and other projects within and outside of SMAS group as appropriate and requested by SMAS Leaders.
• Delivery of agreed objectives for area of responsibility, building positive relationships to influence and execute change.
• Support SMAS Leader to manage and deliver effectively in climate of change and cost pressure.

• Balancing the needs of numerous customer groups and consistently delivering a high standard of service
• Managing peaks and troughs of workload, supporting other team members as appropriate, working under pressure, driving for improvement.

Desired profile

Basic qualifications:
• Part qualified accountant (ideally CIMA)
• Degree educated or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of budgeting, management accounting and management reporting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Able to effectively manage time against agreed deadlines for activities.
• Expert level Excel skills, preferably with experience of MERPs and other GSK financial systems such as Bison, Cognos (Dashboard), IPT, E-PIPS.
• Good communicator, confident in interacting with all levels of individuals across a variety of internal functions (finance and non-finance) and customer groups
• Flexibility and ‘can do' attitude, drive to ensure that task is achieved
• Team working skills are paramount in enabling the jobholder to function effectively, to provide and receive support within small team of colleagues.
