Shift Leader

As a Shift Leader you will gain experience in being skilled at multi-tasking whilst managing a team in a manufacturing plant and increasing capability. There is the opportunity for additional training such as First Line Leader, Incident Controller and Safety Leadership training. You will gain further detailed knowledge on processes that ultimately contribute to making vital and key medicines for patients.

We are flexible to looking at different operational area options for this role.

Job Purpose

The Shift Leader role exists to provide Front Line Leadership (FLL) to teams of process Technicians (PT’s) who operate and maintain complex manufacturing processes and equipment and follow authorised procedures in order to successfully manufacture both intermediate and final stages of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) across the Montrose site in a safe and compliant manner.

In this role you will…

Leading a team of Process Technicians:

·  Responsible for ensuring that the Process Technician team follow procedures and carry out processing responsibilities in a safe and compliant manner;
·  Responsible for coaching and developing individuals to be the best they can be, this can be development in their existing role or supporting development into other roles;
·  Responsible for team performance (individual and collectively) and associated management;

EHS and Incident Control:

·  Act as Incident Controller role for the site. When in the role of Incident Controller will make the first assessment of the situation in conjunction with Shift Fire Officer, escalating the incident if necessary out with normal working hours.
·  Supports the Shift Fire Officer in ensuring adequate Fire and First Aid cover is in place at all times.
·  Carry out initial investigations, including gathering the key information required before escalating to Area Operations Leader.

Performance Management:

·  Attend and facilitate lineside and L1 meetings as applicable on each shift, promote inclusion from all team members and raise issues as applicable.
·  Knowledgeable regarding key business metric indicators for local area, including safety performance – i.e number of accidents/incidents, open UIR’s/UIR actions, Quality performance i.e open deviations, Unexpected conditions, yields
·  Take initial actions to address any poor performance with either plant, process to ensure robust and effective performance management at all times.
·  Take the lead role in providing direction and guidance to the Process Technicians to ensure safety and quality standards are achieved.  Create environment where individuals, procedures and ways of working can be challenged to meet the best needs of the business.

Permit to Work

·  Will provide support for the Permit to Work Coordinators during periods of absence (sickness, holidays) where workloads allow including weekends. Will carry out audits on the Permit to Work system on a routine basis as part of Leader Standard Work (LSW) to check for consistency ensuring appropriate standards and controls are in place to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

Administration:

·  Coordinate training plan for Process Technicians to ensure adequate flexibility to support site manufacturing objectives while supporting development within Process Technician team.
·  Conduct regular Check-In sessions (as per yearly objectives) with each direct report during course of the year.
·  Support updates of necessary documentation to support both manufacture and cleaning with compliance based activities i.e batch document, Non Routine Activities (NRA’s), LSOP and Risk Assessments.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

·  Working knowledge of site Pollution Prevention Control (PPC) licence
·  Understanding of Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) legislation issued by Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
·  Working knowledge of the sites emergency and management processes and associated procedures
·  Permit to work systems
·  Working knowledge of site manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

·  IOSH (or equivalent) certified, First Line Leadership Training (FLL)
·  Previous mentoring/supervisory or management experience
