The Scientific Advisor
- will have a key role in the planning and development of scientific, educational campaigns and oversight of promotional materials.

be required to demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness/involvement;
Through their ability to demonstrate the above, a Scientific Advisor will be recognised as an expert in their defined vaccines product area and be seen as a key contact both within and outside the company. They will be required to input into the longer-term strategy for a disease area e.g. as a member of a disease strategy team.
They will have been involved in cross-functional teams/projects, including those aligned to key commercial processes, with successful management of stakeholders. They will have evidence of taking the lead on projects or aspects of projects.
Performing a Scientific Advisor role
• As an integral member of the vaccines medical team, plays a key role in the planning and development of scientific and educational campaigns and materials, with particular responsibility for:
Scientific content (core claims) making sure that the data available is used for optimal commercial potential.
medical accuracy of these materials and their compliance with the product licence and the relevant Codes of Practice
briefing and provision of data to external agencies, and editing, evaluating and approving the materials produced by agencies
representing UK interests as part of selected global teams, translating global projects and materials for UK adoption and use, especially during the implementation/execution phase
• Provides analyses and reviews of aligned vaccines areas and competitor products, making recommendations, which assist marketing in the determination of current and future strategic direction.
• Develops therapy area reviews, product monographs, slide sets, training packages etc. as appropriate to business and customer needs.
• Ensures the medical information department is up-to-date on new products/campaigns and commercial issues by leading training and factsheet management and by giving advice on complex issues.
• Prepares and delivers presentations for the cross functional team training programmes and briefing sessions, ensuring that complex scientific data and medical concepts are understood
• Plays a supporting role in the Key Evidence Generation process to identify data needs and options for generating evidence.

The SA is a key specialist within vaccines , and operates both individually and within cross functional teams, providing expert advice and support to the following customer groups:
• Marketing, Market Access, Sales Force, Professional Relations, PR / Communications, Medical Advisers, Business Development, Medical Information, Market Research, Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Training Department, Customer Services, External Stakeholders
Attributes / Experience Required:
The SA must:
• Be able to assimilate, interpret and disseminate scientific data and information on Vaccine products and their competitors, and to communicate appropriate information to enhance current strategic and promotional activities
• Be able to quickly attain an extensive knowledge and understanding of those Vaccine products, competitor products that are his/her primary responsibility.
• Be able to prioritise and organise workload, and think clearly under pressure and time constraints, with appreciation for the needs and requirements of other members of the team and the commercial goals of the Company
• Be highly organised and be able to demonstrate experience of coordinating events or projects
• Be highly flexible and sensitive to the needs of others in order to deal with urgent matters as they arise. Self-motivation and the ability to work proactively and with a minimum of supervision are required
• Have a good understanding of the legal and ethical issues and codes affecting the promotion of new and existing products and apply these appropriately.

Desired profile
Basic qualifications:
Pharmacy graduate
Experience working within the pharmaceutical industry (preferred)
Preferred qualifications:
Experience as or potential to become an ABPI signatory
