Job description

Your Responsibilities :
GSK strongly encourages GMC registered Physicians to maintain their Licence to Practice and has an established infrastructure to ensure this happens. Revalidation is fully aligned with our Trust agenda and central to this infrastructure is the role of the Revalidation Co-ordinator. GSK also support Higher Medical Training as part of our Development agenda in order that our physicians can become specialists in Pharmaceutical Medicine in the UK where this is a recognised training programme.

We support over 100 physicians in Revalidation and 10-20 in Pharmaceutical Medicine training.

This role is key to the oversight, planning and day to day management and support for the Revalidation and Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialist Training programme within GSK to ensure that we comply with applicable regulations put in place by the General Medical Council (GMC).

The purpose of your job is primarily to develop and maintain processes to ensure compliance with the GMC requirements in relation, working with the Responsible Officer (RO) to ensure the effective implementation and Level 1 Quality Control (QC) of Revalidation processes and standards. Additional responsibility for physician development activities, such as Pharmaceutical Specialty training, is linked to this, including the development and maintenance of resource for both trainees and educational supervisors.

Key responsibilities:
Developing, implementing, managing and monitoring the systems and infrastructure required to support Revalidation processes
• Working with representatives of the GMC where relevant, to support the RO in ensuring effective compliance of GSK Revalidation processes with GMC requirement. Including keeping up to date with GMC guidance, informing the RO of relevant developments and proposing updates to policy or processes in order to maintain compliance
• Managing entry and exit of physicians from the designated body including requests for and sharing of information as required with other designated bodies. Allocation of appraisers based on set criteria in conjunction with Appraisal lead
• Set up and management of the GSK system and process for storing, tracking and monitoring Revalidation and Appraisal processes and progress
• Working with the RO and Deputy RO to identify new opportunities to refine and implement improvements to existing systems and/or develop new systems, to manage Revalidation more effectively
• Working with other RO's to manage the coordination of the Industry RO network
• Set up and co-ordination of Revalidation training and “Appraiser network” sessions for GSK physicians and appraisers with the support of the Deputy Appraisal Lead. Implementation and management of communications to GMC licensed physicians
• Establishing and maintaining the Revalidation website, document files and shared drive

Developing, implementing, managing and monitoring systems and processes required for Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialist Training (PMST).
• Working with the Educational Supervisors Network Lead (ESNL) you will lead the development, set up, implementation and monitoring of processes required for the successful maintenance of PMST in GSK as a Local Education Provider (LEP).
• Working directly with the FPM to ensure GSK processes and policies meet FPM requirements and compliance for GSK as a LEP, including ES support relevant to revalidation. Includes keeping up to date with PMST guidance, informing the ESNL of relevant developments and proposing updates to policy or processes in order to maintain compliance
• Allocation of Educational Supervisors based on set criteria in conjunction with ESNL, working with ESNL on the assignment of appropriate ES's to trainees
• Working with ES's and line managers to support trainee enrollment in to PMST
• Managing GSK communications to trainees, ES's and the Specialty Advisor of the FPM
• Supporting the ESNL in the set up and management of the GSK ES Network and associated meetings including Developing and maintaining the GSK database of PMST trainees and ES's
• Ensuring ES network content including CPD/CME is aligned to and updated in accordance with, Revalidation needs

• Project management and coordination experience
• Great people skills including negotiation and networking
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Advanced IT skills to include Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel, use of inter- and intranet (including team sites)
• Structured approach to organizing work, including planning; ability to judge critical issues and determine action without supervision

Preferred qualifications:
• Degree in the relevant field
• Good understanding of GSK policies, procedures and systems
• Skilled in use of GSK systems (JDE, One World)
• Highly skilled with SharePoint team site and website maintenance
• MyLearning expertise and coordination
